If they got the bonus, mistake or not, you don't take that away. You'll never get anyone to fill the jobs that way.

You can bet Walters won't take any responsibility. As for any empathy, don't count on it from him. He has displayed utter disdain and vitriol at teachers since he got elected. He could care less about what hardship or anxiety this might cause these new teachers. $50,000 is not enough of a bonus to end up working in a state with a fascist in charge of education.
