Don’t blame China for your being a boring person. There are tons of great and interesting things to do in China, such as…

KTV:

Climb a mountain (or as shown here, take the Huashan Plank Walk):

Participate in a Dragon Boat race:

Go to a waterpark:

Participate in a bicycle race:

Do basejumping from a building:

Ride in a hot air balloon:

Hunt for jade or precious metals:

Go paragliding:

Of course, I love history, so I don’t find “go[ing] to the great wall, and look[ing] at other famous structures” boring at all. That’s why, just this summer, I went to Shaolin Temple. Although I didn’t do it, I learned that you can actually sign up and participate in Shaolin Kung Fu classes and exhibitions:

I also visited Dunhuang in Gansu province to see the Mogao Caves. While there, I wanted to go to the Singing Sands and Crescent Moon Lake park, but sadly, at that time (7:00pm on my only day in Dunhuang), they were no longer selling tickets into the park. That said, I found out that many people go there to do sandboarding:

On my way back from Dunhuang, I spent a day in Jiayuguan to see the Ming dynasty fort built into the Great Wall. Also while there, I saw that you could ride a Bactrian camel:

This is just a small taste of the interesting things that can be done in China. I have absolutely no idea how you could look at all these and come to the conclusion that China is boring.

I would have moved earlier and the brexit vote was the kick in the pants I needed to actually follow through.

One of the lower considerations was the fun shit I did in the UK:

In the UK I’d:

Go snowboarding: There’s a place near Watford a pretty decent indoor place. Now and again you could zip up to Manchester and the indoor slope there was massive.

I’d also sometimes go air softing.

I’d also go racing sometimes (poorly) on track days.

I flew a paraglider a couple times in the UK too weather was bad.

I’d also go to theme parks on weekdays (benefit of owning your own company) to ride roller coasters.

What am I gonna do when I get to China? They don’t do that shit. My impression was shopping (hate) eating out (hate), drinking (hate) and KTV (hate more than pineapple on pizza).

Except they do most of those things

Snowboarding:

There’s the world’s 2nd largest indoor ski park in Guangzhou an 90 minutes away on the train. The world’s biggest is also in China but at the other end of the country.

air softing.

They have air soft in Hong Kong - but it’s pretty toxic in terms of culture and very cliquey. Let’s just say I shot some guy with a full magazine and he wouldn’t call his hit. It was caught on camera too with tracers.

But in China there’s an analog of gel blasters that is pretty much the same. Kiddies play it and they’re hard to hit.

Car racing

赛车

There’s an illegal scene here but I’ve not seen trackdays.

paraglider

There’s a pretty big paraglider scene in HK and Guangdong. I could go and get my license but it’s something I’ve put under soon.

theme parks

There’s 2 on my doorstep Ocean Park and Disney, Chimelong park is 2 hours away on the train.

Well I’ve travelled in most of Europe. I normally go to museums, architectures, famous places, or view the natural scenery. I don’t find it boring….?

In terms of living it’s just because you are not native enough, most entertainments are hidden and hard to find for a foreign tourists such as card game clubs and laser tags. In fact, when I’m here in London, it’s a bit more boring considering the amount of entertainment I have in Suzhou or Shanghai, but hey, every place has its advantages and disadvantages.

This is the first time i see someone saying China is boring. There is everything in China. You want girls? Food? Nature? Gambling? Happy Ending Massage? rural areas? wonder of the world? high tech? 5g? robots? ai?
Maybe you have been in China for many years and its time to look for something fresh outside of China.

This is exactly what I heard from a UK friend after he visited China ‐ food, scenery, everything is fine but he got a little bored and doesn't want to go to China anymore.

Biggest reason is most Chinese don't speak English, and to him the biggest fun comes from the moments when people joke about things together, which never happened when he was in China.

On the contrary, he loves going to Vietnam, enjoyed spending time with Vietnamese a lot, mainly because Vietnamese people are much easier to have fun with.
