The Biden administration is to blame for the ongoing air traffic control failures at New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport, and throughout the system, Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said Monday.
“I think it is clear that the blame belongs with the last administration,” he said in a press conference at the DOT headquarters. “Pete Buttigieg and Joe Biden did nothing to fix the system that they knew was broken.”

Reason would tell you that we should not be only dependent of air travel, but for decades that industry and gas companies have lobbied against high speed rail. That's why we find ourselves here. For instance, Spain has 3 different companies that offer 4 different high speed trains, two of them are low cost. If you can't fly for x or y reason, you take the high speed train. Europe as a whole is very well connected through rail not only through air. Interesting, that a country that brags about choices we only have air travel or you drive yourself some place. It's ridiculous.

Why is everyone so upset about the delays and dangers of flying in the U.S.? We did get a big income tax break for donor corporations and the very wealthy during Trump 1.0 and the wiser ones amongst us used part of this to buy our own planes to fly where we want, when we want out of private airfields.

Why is everyone so upset about the delays and dangers of flying in the U.S.? We did get a big income tax break for donor corporations and the very wealthy during Trump 1.0 and the wiser ones amongst us used part of this to buy our own planes to fly where we want, when we want out of private airfields.

As much as I loathe Trump, the airports have been a complete mess for years and none of the past administrations, including Trump in his last term, did anything real to help. This was bound to happen. Then Trump cuts funds and expects it to get better...this country is embarrassing.

Small correction. The air traffic control equipment is available to buy from stores. Just not in US. But the US won’t go to say China or the EU for 2 reasons, namely national pride and national security. They will be willing to wait tens of years and spend 5x the amount more, but these 2 reasons will always be cited as to why it wasn’t done earlier.

So this old system had one outage in November and then nothing for months. But then doge made massive cuts in the FAA including massive cuts to maintenance workers and this old system keep outing like a couple of weeks. Maybe there is a connection with the frequency of the outages and the doge cuts.
