JF17 used RD33 engine, China has the same level engine called WS13, the next GEN to replace WS13 is called WS21, the next next GEN to replace WS21 is called WS19. both WS21 and WS19 are only available after 2020. WS19 is the engine for J-35. per the data from Singapore airshow, WS19 can generate 11.5 ton thrust, the thrust weight ratio is 11 which is above GE F414 engine and British EJ200 engine. WS13 isn't so good, I understood why they used RD33 engine at that time frx.

AL-31, AL-41 engine (Russia), WS-10, WS15 engine (China). both M88 and EJ-200 engine are medium thrust engine. both France and British even don't have heavy fight jet such as F-15, J-16, Su-30, F-22 and J-20.

JF17 used RD33 engine, China has the same level engine called WS13, the next GEN to replace WS13 is called WS21, the next next GEN to replace WS21 is called WS19. both WS21 and WS19 are only available after 2020. WS19 is the engine for J-35. per the data from Singapore airshow, WS19 can generate 11.5 ton thrust, the thrust weight ratio is 11 which is above GE F414 engine and British EJ200 engine. WS13 isn't so good, I understood why they used RD33 engine at that time frx.

@RelentlessGhost-u1r BTW I can tell you there are only three countries can build TVC engine, US, Russian and China. there are only three countries can build heavy thrust engine such as GE F-110, GE-F129 and GE F-135 engine (US). AL-31, AL-41 engine (Russia), WS-10, WS15 engine (China). both M88 and EJ-200 engine are medium thrust engine. both France and British even don't have heavy fight jet such as F-15, J-16, Su-30, F-22 and J-20.
