umm i think u need to exchange in India (best rates), at the airport or designated exchanges. banks cant & should not accept a foreign currency. would apply to all currencies not just INR outside India.

India shares all tax info of NRI in EU with the EU. banks will never accept a cash tender of foreign currency - thast the way it is. it should be exchanged in India, airport or designated exchange bureaus...perhaps check with your bank...i did in Uk also in US.

I'm not an Indian but I think more than striving for a 5 trillion economy, India should think about the disproportionate distribution of the money it is making. It is such a shame to see the slums and people living literally next to gutters and sewage. Concentrate on lifting the masses out of poverty and developing and cleaning up your cities. Forget Trump and the 'West'. US is an empire in decline. You are better off without them. Stay with BRICKS and Asia.

Reading the stupid, defensive comments in response to someone's well meaning, non insulting comment about the Indian economy one can see the arrogant reactive mentality that cannot accept feedback, or make a cogent, resasoned comment back. There are slums as @RayJavi said in global cities, LA, NYC, cities in Brazil, etc but the level of putrid stench and living conditions, well India is one of the topmost 5 worst for living conditions of poor people and filth in cities . First accept the truth guys then we can go about working in our own small or big ways in any way we can to make the situation better.

I think India can reduce its tariffs to encourage the US to reduce tariffs to 15%, after all, India has fewer people to import things and more of a made in India emotion than the US, plus, instead make import policies stricter.

When you are very poor in R&D in all sectors except Space, Pharma you are not in a position to challenge to USA or EU or UK or JAPAN or China. When we are working on Reservation in Govt Jobs, when our so called Backward caste or other SC &ST caste people think that they still being dragged or insulted by Upper Caste people as if being done some 1000 years ago we can not challenge USA/UK/EU/JAPAN/China in next 500 years also.

I'm not an Indian but I think more than striving for a 5 trillion economy, India should think about the disproportionate distribution of the money it is making. It is such a shame to see the slums and people living literally next to gutters and sewage. Concentrate on lifting the masses out of poverty and developing and cleaning up your cities. Forget Trump and the 'West'. US is an empire in decline. You are better off without them. Stay with BRICKS and Asia.

Reading the stupid, defensive comments in response to someone's well meaning, non insulting comment about the Indian economy one can see the arrogant reactive mentality that cannot accept feedback, or make a cogent, resasoned comment back. There are slums as @RayJavi said in global cities, LA, NYC, cities in Brazil, etc but the level of putrid stench and living conditions, well India is one of the topmost 5 worst for living conditions of poor people and filth in cities . First accept the truth guys then we can go about working in our own small or big ways in any way we can to make the situation better.

I think India can reduce its tariffs to encourage the US to reduce tariffs to 15%, after all, India has fewer people to import things and more of a made in India emotion than the US, plus, instead make import policies stricter.

When you are very poor in R&D in all sectors except Space, Pharma you are not in a position to challenge to USA or EU or UK or JAPAN or China. When we are working on Reservation in Govt Jobs, when our so called Backward caste or other SC &ST caste people think that they still being dragged or insulted by Upper Caste people as if being done some 1000 years ago we can not challenge USA/UK/EU/JAPAN/China in next 500 years also.

Yes there are many things India didn't do well while handling its foreign policy and response but to say the govt is truly spineless is ignorance and accepting just one side of the narrative
