Most Indian commentators don't understand the economics of supply chains. India is a node in the supply chain. The trade deficit with China is not a problem if the total trade of India is making money. The reason is India imports intermediates and machinery yo produce goods it exports. Take for example pharmaceuticals. India imports the active ingredients and packing machinery from China. India then make these ingredients into pills to export and is the top exporter of finished pharmaceuticals. So the trade deficit with China has to be balanced with its pharmaceutical exports. This kind of balancing has to be done industries by industries.

I think when China and India were at same level India was in short of funds and manmohan singh brought the economy back and we were going in right direction when Modi took over and changed the game. He did have brilliant ideas but unfortunately it were only on papers for election speeches. Our youth are idle but can be made skillful if we work in that direction. India needs a real leader who can change everything from laws, to taxation, to how government offices function, corruption eradication, education system change etc

Most Indian commentators don't understand the economics of supply chains. India is a node in the supply chain. The trade deficit with China is not a problem if the total trade of India is making money. The reason is India imports intermediates and machinery yo produce goods it exports. Take for example pharmaceuticals. India imports the active ingredients and packing machinery from China. India then make these ingredients into pills to export and is the top exporter of finished pharmaceuticals. So the trade deficit with China has to be balanced with its pharmaceutical exports. This kind of balancing has to be done industries by industries.

I think when China and India were at same level India was in short of funds and manmohan singh brought the economy back and we were going in right direction when Modi took over and changed the game. He did have brilliant ideas but unfortunately it were only on papers for election speeches. Our youth are idle but can be made skillful if we work in that direction. India needs a real leader who can change everything from laws, to taxation, to how government offices function, corruption eradication, education system change etc
