Rules are no different from anywhere else in the world unless I'm missing something. At crosswalks pedestrians have the legal right of way etc etc. Problem is nobody follows the rules unless a security cam is watching

i dont know that much, ive never been in China for more than 2 years at once and that was when i was a toddler. so im forming my above consensus purely off of my limited experiences visiting family every year, and also based on what my family tells me.

One of the things I like about living in China is that most people do not care about what you are doing as long as you are not acting like a fool or blatantly doing things that other people see but doing . For example, I was with some Europeans in Beijing once and they insisted on walking around the city drinking beer . It is perfectly legal to do that but nobody really does it here. They were loud as well so they stuck out and they were told by some locals at one point to be quiet because they were disturbing people . Be respectful and polite, don’t argue with people or cause a scene and you will be fine . If you do not know what to to do just ask .

Typically you don’t need to worry too much about these things - I’m American but I’ve visited Beijing and a few other cities a few times. The regular clothes you wear in Canada are probably just fine, I wouldn’t dress too sexy in super low cut stuff but shorter shorts seem to be fine (at least in Beijing).

There really is no social or cultural rules where Chinese are concerned, but don't take it badly when people look at you and talk about you, they're very curious and interested in any other people and there's no malice in it. Outside of the cities people will be likely to approach you for conversation, usually just wanting social interaction, feel free to be friendly if you wish.

And literally everyone walks around looking at their phone every single minute. At some point you'll be pushed to start shouting at people or shoving back, unfortunately that is also a common occurrence and necessity. Try to take a break from crowds every other day or you'll go crazy.

There really is no social or cultural rules where Chinese are concerned, but don't take it badly when people look at you and talk about you, they're very curious and interested in any other people and there's no malice in it. Outside of the cities people will be likely to approach you for conversation, usually just wanting social interaction, feel free to be friendly if you wish.

And literally everyone walks around looking at their phone every single minute. At some point you'll be pushed to start shouting at people or shoving back, unfortunately that is also a common occurrence and necessity. Try to take a break from crowds every other day or you'll go crazy.
