I had this absolutely amazing meal box on a Croatia Airlines flight just before COVID, and it was in economy class. Very good prosciutto, cheese in olive oil, green olive paste, some pretty good crackers to spread it on and sugared almonds to finish the meal. I never had bad airplane food. Either I am not picky at all or the fact it is bad was always a lie. I tried so many airlines too it cant just be that.

They must pre-make these for that airline in mass quantities and freeze them... When I worked for United they made everything fresh that day for the flights. It was a huge kitchen and took a lot of work but it was all fresh. The cookies they gave on these meals were amazing too. Like 400-500 calories for one cookie though, so that has to be a rare treat.
On second thought they may not normally freeze them. I guess they could just be expanding their business to frozen dinners during this time. I definitely wouldn't pay what they are asking even if first class meals are usually pretty good. Freeze and reheat them and the quality goes down.

That makes no sense. It's not like they have to keep producing the food. They are intentionally producing it, because they think it can sell in supermarkets.
