If they cared so much about cows, they would stop the public from drinking milk, but no, that doesn't fit the narrative does it.

India has always had these problems but things have gotten progressively worser since 2014 (that's when BJP came into power) - misinformation campaigns, pseudo-nationalism in the garb of patriotism, most of the media being mouth pieces of the ruling govt etc etc.
The govt has been a massive failure and they don't know how to fix it (or they don't want to) so they keep distracting people with these meaningless stuff. This way they prevent the people from discussing the actual issues. Our people get distracted very easily and their hatred towards certain communities have made them blind to their own eventual doom.
It's sad to think about tbh, India had great future ahead of it before Modi (we had corruption back then too but it's nothing compared to how things are now) but now neighbouring countries like Bangladesh has overtaken us in terms of development and we are well on our way to become like Venezuela. We are moving backwards in terms of development.
