White privilege means you tend not to have the kinds of problems associated with being non-white, that non-whites do tend to have. It doesn’t mean you don’t have other problems.
The short answer is: yes. Being white means you are generally spared the specific kinds of problems that non-whites do have to face by virtue of not being or passing as white.
Privilege doesn’t mean anything more than that. It just means you have immunity to a specific kind of problem related to the point of privilege (your race, gender, etc) in question. If you’re tall, you’re immune to short-person problems (tho that can come with having to duck in places your short friends don’t have to). If you’re wealthy, you don’t have the kinds of constraints or obstacles in your life than your cash-strapped peers do. If you’re in a particularly powerful social network (like a church, or a fraternal organization) that can open doors to opportunities or resources that aren’t available to people not in it.
We navigate a world that treats people differently by things like race, gender, wealth, how good-looking you might be, how tall you are, how well-connected you are, and any number of other variables. Privilege means you have a certain immunity to some specific classes of problems. Each of these classes (gender, race, wealth, attractiveness, etc.) forms what we can reference as a kind of privilege.
For example (let’s pick a point that isn’t race or gender), those of us who graduated high school or college have a sort of immunity to the specific kinds of problems associated with not having those kinds of credentials. Some employers might not hire you if you didn’t graduate, and that’s a real problem that non-graduates will face in life that graduates won’t face nearly as much. Being credentialed in the right ways means you don’t have those particular problems.

There is an obvious issue in declaring that white homeless people benefit from a privileged social status.
There is discrimination based on skin color, we cannot deny that. But in general, discrimination based on wealth is much more widespread, it’s enshrined in the laws.
When there is an even that costs $5000 to attend, chances are it’s going to be a mostly white event.
Even if you make sure that there is no racial bias at all, and that anyone who can pay can get in, because of the current distribution of wealth, there will still be a bias in the result.
Economic privilege is a thing.
Freeing slaves and declaring everyone to be equal, in a system where the slaves are destined to starve unless they accept to work for the plantation owners who still own all the resources… It’s not real equality.
And while there is a bit of churn, and some poor people get wealthy, and some wealth people get poor, on average, wealthy people get wealthier, and poor people remain poor, it’s simply a result of the way the system is designed.
Even if we eliminate all racism somehow, if whites still own most stuff, they will still be the ones in power, getting better treatment, while others follow orders, and get the scraps.

And being white has privileges. A few years ago a retired Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, an extremely well educated and wealthy lawyer, was followed around a store by the security guard because she was black. She had the other privileges; it didn't matter.
So lets not pretend white privilege isn't a thing, and perhaps lets resolve to work toward a society where all the unspoken privileges are replaced by treating everyone with respect.

Yes.
It might sound odd to suggest that any living in poverty is “privileged.” Indeed, anyone living in poverty is going face many challenges in life. However, there are some challenges that a white person doesn’t have to face in the United States and other white-majority countries - even if they have no income and no wealth.
The most apropos example of white privilege at the moment is the ability to interact with police officers without fear. A white homeless man may be harassed by the police, but the chances that the police will respond with excessive force are minimal compared to a black homeless man - even if the white man is belligerent with the police and the black man isn’t.
The purpose of the term “white privilege” is to point out ways the structure of our society favors some people over others based on race. Lacking money definitely puts people at a disadvantage, but so does being non-white.

But the reality is, no…they do not. My grandparents ( fathers side) were white dirt poor share croppers in Misssissippi…they actually lost their farm shack to a black sharecropper family that agreed to work for less, so my dad as a baby his sister and brother and mother and father were homeless, living in a wagon pulled by mules.. looking for another farm to take them on…how many times were they spit on, beaten..ran out of town and called white trash?? Many times…where was that born in privilage???
