4. Digital Publishing
You may think that there’s no money to be made in digital publishing, but think again.
The digital publication of e-books, digital magazines, and the development of digital libraries and catalogues are all examples of electronic publishing. It also has an editorial component, which entails editing books, journals, or periodicals that are primarily intended to be read on a digital device.
Selling books online is how Amazon started at first, but today, everybody is carrying a ton of e-books and audio books in their smartphone.
When you think about it, who doesn’t read books, including young kids? In fact, some kids have more books than grown-ups.
Digital publishing is a multi-million dollar industry. Typical digital publishing businesses make 7-figures a year or more.

5. Mobile Apps
According to Statista, there are 3.8 billion smartphone users in the world today, which means 48.16 percent of the world population owns a smartphone, compared to 2 billion computers including servers, desktops, and laptops. So, naturally, where do you think the most money will be made?
Smartphones of course. Smartphones don’t use a web browser natively, which means the best way to access a smartphone is via a mobile App.
And what do you think these 3.8 billion smartphone users will be demanding?
They'll be looking for smartphone apps to assist them manage their daily lives or play video games to kill time. To develop a smartphone app, you can either do it yourself if you know how to code, or you can work with a software developer to develop your app if you don't have coding skills.
A typical smartphone app can earn upwards of 7-figures a year.

6. Chatbots and AI
According to ChatBot expert, Murray Newlands, “Whereas ten years ago, every firm needed a website, and five years ago, every company needed an app, now every company needs to embrace messaging with AI and chatbots,”
What’s a Chatbot?
A chatbot is artificial intelligence (AI) software that can imitate a natural language discussion (or chat) with a user via messaging apps, websites, mobile apps, or the telephone.
Creating chatbots may appear difficult, but with tools like ManyChat, Chattypeople, and Chatfuel, you can quickly build a Facebook bot without any prior coding experience.
Chatbots can improve efficiency, enhance user experience, and generally, cut operational costs by up to 80%, so you can see where businesses are going and the opportunity that awaits you in this new technology.

7. Blockchain
No doubt you’ve heard about Bitcoin and Ethereum, the two foremost cryptocurrencies ruling cyberspace. The technology underlying this new phenomenon is known as Blockchain.
Blockchain is a method of storing data that makes it difficult (if not impossible), to alter, hack, or trick the system. Blockchain is a sort of distributed ledger technology in which transactions are recorded using a hash, which is an immutable cryptographic signature.
However, cryptocurrency is not the only application for blockchain technology.
Blockchain technology is also used for the following applications:
Secure sharing of medical data
Control NFT marketplaces
Enable music royalties tracking
Secure cross-border payments
Real-time IoT (Internet of Things)
Operating systems
Personal identity security
Anti-money laundering tracking systems
Supply chain and logistics monitoring,
Any application that requires solid security.
Basically, blockchain technology is the biggest thing since the invention of the Internet, and blockchain applications will be in high demand.
As you can see, you can make a ton of money developing blockchain applications. At Silicon Valley in California, new blockchain techs are sprouting up almost on a daily basis, so we can conclude that this could be the new gold rush.

8. Affiliate Marketing Niche Sites
This is cliché. Ok, although you think you know affiliate marketing, what you don’t know is that this is the biggest Internet business model of all time.
Numbers don’t lie – right?
The following are numbers by Statista – a reputable research firm based in Hamburg, Germany:
[Affiliate Marketing spending in the United States from 2010 to 2022]
[The statistic shows the affiliate marketing spending in the United States from 2010 to 2022 in billions of dollars. Notice the growth curve is consistent over the years, but seems to take off from 2021 onwards.]
By definition, affiliate marketing is a simple business model where a website publisher (affiliate), generates leads to an advertiser (merchant), for purposes of promoting a brand, growing a business, or generating sales.
This definition may seem simple, but companies, agencies, and individual savvy internet marketers generate millions of dollars each year doing just this.
What’s the big deal about affiliate marketing?
Zero barriers to entry. You don’t have to pour in millions of dollars to start, and it doesn’t matter whether you’re a student or a grandma. All you need is a computer, laptop, or a smartphone with an Internet connection.
There’s no inventory involved. You don’t have to deal with thousands of angry customers who haven’t received their goods because they were delayed while being shipped from China.
You can start from zero, with little or no capital (I mean it!)
You can automate almost every aspect of it. Savvy internet marketers can use AI software to automate everything, leaving the entire thing in the hands of software, and just live like kings.
Now that you know the benefits what’s the catch?
There’s no catch once you understand Internet marketing and all its nitty-gritty marketing techniques like copywriting, SEO, email marketing, social media marketing, native Ads, media buys, PPC, Google Ad campaigns, Facebook Ad campaigns, and a host of other marketing techniques.
Affiliate marketing is a 7 – 8 figure per year Internet business model.

If you are looking to get rich in 5 years, it is important to look at your current financial situation and make a plan to improve it. If you are in debt, then your first step should be to pay off your debts. Next, you will want to start saving money for retirement and emergency funds. Finally, start investing in stocks or bonds that have the potential for higher returns.

Janet Walters
Getting rich in 5 years starting from zero isn't easy to do. However, that depends on your definition of rich. Since your definition is $200k, that's very achievable. I'm sure many people reading this will assuming being rich means having millions of dollars, I know I do, in which case, achieving that in 5 years is a bit hard.
When people say they want to be rich, not all of them mean they want to have tons of money. For many people, what they really want is time freedom. They want to have enough money where they don't need to work. If you want tons of money, millions, 5 years isn't realistic, it's certainly possible, but not realistic. It's hard enough for someone starting with $100k to get "rich" let alone starting from zero.
But it's not impossible. Here are 2 books I think will help: The Millionaire Fastlane
and Early Retirement Extreme
For those who really want time freedom or the ability to retire, the truth is, you don't have to necessarily be rich; you only need to produce the right type of income.

Working Income
You see, most people trade in their time for money. Meaning, if they stop putting in the time, the money stops coming in. Take the typical person who works 40 hours a week and gets paid by the hour. If he works, he gets paid. If he doesn't work, he won't get paid. Simple enough.
For these people, in order to retire and not have to work, they have to make and save up enough money to last the rest of their life. The younger they are, the more they will need to have in order to retire. This is why most people can't retire until they're much older. Either they will have enough money or they will have less years left of life.

Passive Income
In order to have the option to not work and retire early, you need passive income. This is income where you no longer have to put in work to earn money.
For example, the interest you get in your savings account is passive income. You don't have to do a thing and you can still make money, albeit a very small amount.
Other examples include stock dividends, royalties from songs and books, businesses that can operate without your involvement, rentals (assuming you hire a property management company to do everything for you), and so on.
What most of these sources of income have in common is once you put the work in to set them up, you can step away and they will continue to produce money for you.

You Don't Need to Be Rich to Have Financial Freedom
Many people think they need millions to retire and if all they have is working income, then they're probably right. However, if you have enough passive income to cover all of your expenses, technically, you can retire even if you only had a few thousand dollars in the bank.
If you can create enough monthly passive income where it surpasses your monthly expenses, you're pretty much set.
Of course, the reality is, your income sources can sometimes dry up. This means, to be on the safe side, you will need to make a few times more than your expenses in passive income.

Learn to Create Passive Income
Since we're assuming you're starting from zero, starting up a traditional brick and mortar business is probably out of the question unless you want to take a loan out and have someone to cosign.
My advice, maybe look into starting some sort of online business. If you want to learn how, here are a bunch online courses on Udemy
that you can take that will teach you specific ways to make money online such as sourcing and selling products on popular E-commerce sites like Amazon and Alibaba, creating apps, writing and publishing books on Amazon, affiliate marketing, investing, selling photos, creating websites, and a bunch of other ways.
$200k goal, 5 years is very doable.
A lot can happen in 5 years. If you want to achieve financial freedom, it can happen 5 years from now if you take massive action. Having millions of dollars in 5 years on the other hand, is a bit tough. It will likely mean taking bigger risks. Realistically, if that's your goal, I'd push the timeline out a bit further if you're starting from zero.
But the $200k goal, 5 years is very doable.

Sean Grogg, User Experience Engineer, Google
I feel like a lot of people responded well to the question, but didn't take much of the comment into account - you want to have around $200k (I assume in disposable income) in 5 years. You want to acquire this money with a "common job".
So instead of making the most money we are concerned about something far healthier: reaching a goal.

Step 1: Determine your minimum acceptable Quality of Life (QOL)
When it comes to reaching your goal you're going to want to take stock of the things that you want to do on the journey. Be realistic. I prefer energy drinks in the mornings, I like to go and see family every couple of months, I want really good internet for gaming, I don't like cooking for myself... these are all things to consider.
The idea is that you realistically represent yourself so that you can understand the kinds of expenses you're likely going to be dealing with over time. Don't lower the quality you are comfortable living at or you'll spend the 5 years annoyed at your goal rather than working happily towards it.

Step 2: Determine some "common jobs" you can fill
There are numerous jobs that pay relatively well. Because we have a 5 year span and a $200,000 goal we know we're going to need to be netting $40,000 per year after all expenses and taxes. I would recommend doubling that number, giving us a solid starting point of $80,000.
Now we need to find "common jobs" that pay in this range. $80,000 comes out to roughly $40/hour. To fill this kind of figure, you're likely going to need to look into some sort of trade or technical job. At this point, it really comes down to your education and experience as to what jobs are available to you.

Step 3: Start considering expenses
Now that you've decided what kind of job you want to position yourself for it's time to consider expenses more closely. With a job actually in mind you can begin looking into the location you'll want to live and factor expenses accordingly. Take things like rental costs, transportation (car or public), and all your QOL items into account. Work out your monthly expenses and from there extrapolate into annual expenses.
This is important because it helps you actually break down your expenses rather than getting lost looking at a particular salary figure too hard. This is a common mistake many novice programmers make - many see the high salary figures being offered in locations like San Francisco and make the mistake of applying those salary figures to their current expenses rather than adjusting accordingly. Going from a $25k income to a $100k income sounds amazing... until your rent suddenly increases tenfold. However, other things like transportation may decrease if you currently drive and consider taking public transit in a city.

Step 4: Determine your take-home figure
Now it's time to take your salary figure and deduct taxes from it. After taxes, an $80,000 salary looks closer to just shy of $60,000. There are various calculators that will do most of this for you, but your tax situation is your own.
After you have your post-tax salary, start deducting those expenses. Remove your year's rent, insurances, estimated meal/entertainment costs, etc. Remember to use the figures provided for where you'll be living - this includes doing some research on how even something as silly as a cup of coffee may change in price!
Deduct all these expenses from your post-tax salary to arrive at your take-home figure. This is how much you'll be able to sock away towards your $200,000 goal. If the number isn't over $40,000 then it's time to scrap this particular job and look at another.

Optional Step: Consider other factors
What if a job is in an industry you don't currently have experience in? What if it's a specialized trade and will require schooling and/or apprenticeship? Can you deal with some of these factors and still reach your goal?
If you require additional education/experience to get a job remember to adjust your goal accordingly: where you may have had 5 years you may need six months of education and job hunting to get a job - you now have 4.5 years and should adjust accordingly. As well, supplemental education will have costs associated with it and those should be considered against your goal (i.e. if the school costs $5000 your new target number is $205,000 to account for the cost).

Optional Step: Side-business
Once you have a routine in place see if there are ways you can operate a business on the side to increase your income. Things such as mentoring others in your present field or starting a hobby shop can be a way of producing some extra income to help offset some of your expenses. Just remember to apply the above to the adjustments you'll be making to your income (additional income will be taxed, for example) and be sure not to do anything that would contribute to burnout.

Optional Step: Invest
Investing your money is a great way to get more out of it. In my opinion, you should first invest in yourself (get any education/experience to perform your job and be compensated well for it), pay off debts , then invest safely (bonds and blue-chip stocks, preferably).
