According to Prof. Stephen Kotkin, the facts presented in this documentary about Russian invasion of Finland is that Stalin tried to negotiate in earnest with Finland. He wanted land and island crucial to the defense of Leningrad. When the Finns, who did not trust Stalin, rebuked all offers and compromises, Stalin got angry and then invaded. The initial failure was because Stalin ordered the attack on a broad front, which failed. The Red Army succeeded when they pinpointed their assault. Stalin later apologized for his failure. There was no mention of his executing officers.

To those who interested in the subject, I'd suggest reading Viktor Suvorov "Icebreaker", and Mark Solonin's books as well to name a few. On my opinion this documentary is partly based on the soviet propaganda and doesn't accurately reflect the current state of the historical discoveries.

My Great Grandfather died in 2015 at the age of 89 due to an accident during surgery, I then had to go to Arlington cemetery to commemorate him. He fought in WW2, Vietnam, and the Korean War. I never knew much about him and have vaguely met him when I was a very young kid.

My mum was divebombed as a baby in her London home, my grandparents had to dig her out from under rubble and glass, she was so quiet they thought she was dead, but here I am hay she passed away last year at the age of 80. Born into pandemonium, died in a pandemic, the irony wasn’t wasted on her and she was stoic to the end. RIP Mum.

Also, Hess had scars from injuries received in WW I. When a doctor examined the supposed Hess years later in Spandau Prison, the scars were not present.

This story reminds me of a police officer who left his valuables in his patrol car while he went into a hospital thinking who is gonna be dumb enough to break into a police car to steal his stuff yet that’s exactly what happened. Morale of the story you can’t never be too safe.

It is so funny watching this as a Brit and the misunderstanding of the British nature is so strong not only in this but in understanding us when it comes to Brexit or even losing. We love war, especially when we can be seen as the underdogs and fighting for something we believe in. It is almost absurd that today we are able to watch the scenes of horror, so many people who were sacrificed in the name of war. The innocent civilian victims, but also, thousands, millions of soldiers transformed into killers to defend the insane ideology of their leaders. I shed my tears because it is the only thing I can do now, not knowing what really "WAR" means, what is like to be in the middle of bombs, explosion, devastation of lands and cities. My respects to all the victims. RIP.

Attention to details in this documentary is amazing. When the narrator was reading quotes from Mein K. Stalin was underlining the exact page word to word in the Russian version of the book.
That means someone went out there, found the book in Russian (which I’m pretty sure is banned in Russia) and told the actor to underline the words in exact same tempo as the narrator was going to read them! I mean how many people who can read Russian were gonna watch the documentary, let alone notice this?? Wow.

Is it weird that all I've watched and consumed in the realm of history, has been WW2. The entire thing. Every detail and especially the sociological nature of it all. We seemed to see the best and worst that Humanity has to offer all in one nearly worldwide conflict.
