Nowdays traveling to Vietnam is very famous dor Indonesian because there are many cute and unique places like winter in SEA, cafe apartment, Ghibli a like cafe. I think Laos is pretty unlucky in this regard. They are technically not at war with the US, yet the war dragged on to their soil, and they are the most bombarded nation in the world.

It took me 1.5 hour flight to reach Phu Quoc island by airplane from Saigon and after that 30 minutes to the resort. 3 years ago I went to Gili Trawangan Island: 2 hours flight from Jakarta to Lombok new airport, located in the Southern part of Lombok Island, followed by 2 hours by taxi to Bangsai and eventually 40 minutes by speedboat to Gili Trawangan. I do not include the waiting time.I wish I can go to the worlds hidden divers paradise Raja Ampat, but the access is increadibly difficult!

I gave my perspective as Indonesian where nowadays Vietnam is popular as a tourist destination because for us to travel around the country is close relative compared to our own country where every place feels far away

Mostly International Airport from abroad arrived in Jakarta. That's why you just need to explore cities around Java to make it cheaper. Bandung, Jogjakarta will be efficient to travel from Jakarta. Except if you straightly arrived in Makassar from abroad, you can travel around Sulawesi, if you arrived in Balikpapan Airport, then you can travel around East Kalimantan. Another option is your flight straightly arrived in Denpasar, so you can travel around Bali and even Lombok.

dude, if you want to visit some colder area from Jakarta you can easily go to Bandung Area (Lembang or Pengalengan) why you choose the difficult option to go to Toraja? even the most popular city in Indonesia is Bali which is only 2 hour by airplane.
