Im a filipino living in Vietnam. The inflation here isnt as bad as back home. The wifi and electricity are very cheap compared to the price for both in the Philippines. It is alot safer here as well. Less crime. I love my home country but Vietnam will beat us in becoming a 1st world country. Their govt is better. Plus its stealing all the manufacturing jobs from China.

Im Filipino. But im more optimistic about Vietnam than our country. Because Vietnam has a better and stronger manufacturing sector than the Philippines and the corruption in our country is too deeply entrenched with no hope in sight for it to be ever eliminated in the foreseeable future. For a country to be wealthy, it must have a strong manufacturing base. From Japan, to korea, to taiwan, Singapore, and China. All of these rich asian countries have a strong manufacturing sector. if people can remember, everything used to be made in Japan, then everything made in korea, then Singapore, Taiwan and now China.

Since 2018, more Chinese than local Vietnamese have bought high-end properties in Vietnam, and they blew the real estate prices sky high. There is a reason why the real estate crash in Vietnam happened simultaneously with the real estate crash in China.

The Philippines has a good balance between its service sector and manufacturing. Corruption in Vietnam is simply covered by their news and government and is much worse in reality. Real estate in Vietnam is down as well and will not recover for decades to come. Vietnam also exaggerates its GDP like other Asian countries to keep up with Philippine. Vietnam will grow more and more slowly, just like Malaysia and Singapore.

I hope Ph will have more manufacturing jobs. I feel like if we have better infrastructure, we will be a lot better. I see a lot of products in US made in Vietnam and not PH. But I am glad less of China/PRC made. Hope to see PH do better in manufacturing!!
