Well, we're now seeing a similar spike with Black Myth: Wukong and this one is even bigger than Cyberpunk 2077's. Preloads for Game Science's new action RPG went live yesterday, and Steam's download bandwidth usage promptly spiked to 70TB per second, which is enormous. The majority of this usage was from Asia, which alone accounted for 59.3TB per second at the peak, followed by North America at 7.8TB, and Europe closely behind at 7.6TB.

It's worth noting that this bandwidth usage is across Steam as a whole, so there's bound to be some usage in there that isn't from Black Myth: Wukong. Also, when comparing it directly to Cyberpunk 2077, it's worth noting that the upcoming action RPG has a much larger storage space requirement, demanding at least 130GB rather than 70GB, so it'll be more demanding on that bandwidth in the first place. However, it's still indicative that Game Science could have a huge hit on its hands when the action RPG launches on PC and PS5 tomorrow, especially looking at the overall positive scores like in our own Black Myth: Wukong review.

I can't believe that it's finally release day, very skeptical of many aspects from development and a technical standpoint but everything has been very promising since then. Can't wait to go ape shit, Wukong is such an iconic and influential character and he deserves all the praise.

Though I'll probably play at 100% through because of the uniqueness. We've never gotten a true monkey king/wukong/jeourny to the west game and for that alone I will explore and admire the game. The idea of chineese lore and intense action hits me with dopamine so yeah, I'm sure it'll be great.

Gear does drop in the game. I don't think you get gear entirely for the statsbut more so for the bonuses it provides to your skills, abilities, and playstyle. Some gear synergizes better with what you pick from the skill tree than others. For example if you prefer to sprint towards the boss, some gear provides better damage and stamina regeneration while sprinting.
And yes there's rarity. You also have the option to upgrade certain pieces of gear with crafting materials. If you like an early game piece of gear, you can upgrade it so it can compete with later pieces of gear as long as you want.

Gear does drop in the game. I don't think you get gear entirely for the statsbut more so for the bonuses it provides to your skills, abilities, and playstyle. Some gear synergizes better with what you pick from the skill tree than others. For example if you prefer to sprint towards the boss, some gear provides better damage and stamina regeneration while sprinting.
And yes there's rarity. You also have the option to upgrade certain pieces of gear with crafting materials. If you like an early game piece of gear, you can upgrade it so it can compete with later pieces of gear as long as you want.

Just saw some leaked gameplay footage on YouTube by a very small channel, there was about 6 videos showing the skill trees, some side missions, a character that surprised me, if you are familiar with the original story you will be surprised too, and some gears, most of the gameplay were (from what I speculate) near end game footage, these videos are now unlisted as of less than 10mins ago, there was one more video that I coudln't get the chance to view before it go unlisted so I will not be able to access it anymore before the game comes out tmr. But from what I saw, the game looks so good, I never really played games in this genre, but I watch a lot of gameplays on YouTube, it reminds me a lot like the newer God of War and Ragnarok (which is a good thing), but I will be more hooked on the story as I grew up with the 86's TV show and consumed almost every portrayl of the story, less than 14 hours to go, very excited!

The game is fantastic there will be some frx rate drops and some glitches but that normal for a new game and don’t let bad reviews ruin your experience it’s a 10/10 game for sure

I may be misremembering or just totally incorrect but I believe at one point they made the switch from UE4 to UE5 which I’d assume affected dev time. I also have no idea what the working conditions are like in a Chinese developer office.
