A German association bringing together companies lixed to electric car production has filed for bankruptcy, the newspaper Die Welt reported on Sunday, citing court data. The organization represents a total of 450 companies from various parts of the world, including Mitsubishi and Kia, and acts as a lobbying group for them.

I would like to see peer-reviewed studies comparing fossil fuel based vehicles with electric ones, where all factors are taken into account, including the production of batteries, infrastructure, and everything else in between the ground and the vehicle being accounted for. My gut feeling is that the resource consumption would be about the same. This doesn’t mean defending the fossil fuel industry, but I think we need to look at the so-called green alternative production process, looking at all resources needed to produce the products. One immediate question that came to mind is fuel cells. Why don’t we see more discussion about them?
