They don't advocate for independence but would like to be independent from the mainland which is what it is currently. Status quo. But you are very wrong if you think it has nothing to do with the USA or nothing to do with the mainland. The destiny of Taiwan has nothing to do with the Taiwanese but only between the mainland and the US. Basically Taiwanese are not at the table only on the menu. You should understand real power politics by now.

I have to say, as an immigrant Chinese, the west really don't know how we think. If I scored 99 in all my tests, my mom would say modestly to relatives "aiyah he did alright, not too bad, he's so naughty you know." (and then she tells me - don't be prideful and don't tell your friends too much! No need to share or be boastful!!! - Until push comes to shove, and suddenly I have a PhD.)
My point is = we never believe in over promising and under delivering. It's a huge shame.
I believe the current PRC Chinese are also like that, if not even more reticent. Whatever they show is definitely not what they ultimately have or can produce within a year of active military investment.
We can always predict a society's military advancement in conjunction with that society's actual infrastructure and development.

This is exactly how I see the Chinese, they are very modest. Sometimes I get angry with their modesty even in the face of American arrogance but later see why it is important that they remain modest. It’s twice shocking when a person you think does not have the ability to beat you at a challenge not only beat you but make a fool out of you. The trade war has taught me a lot of modesty and why it’s needed. The Israel-Iran war had Trump begging for Chinese intervention when Iran threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz, this was when I realized how powerful Chinese influence has grown. I prefer China as the world’s dominating country than USA, because they can see through the lens of oppression who needs to be free and why. God bless China

Yah the trade war sparked by Trump was such an embarrassment. It looked like a bully who has been deeply humiliated and is trying to get revenge against the entire world, and this attitude is reflected in all Trump’s foreign policy as well. His tactics are so base and arrogant and his propaganda so sad and delusional - I’m thrilled to watch everything he is doing backfiring.

I do solar systems for locals here in USA, and the Chinese equipment is just better and more affordable, and has never failed me in a decade. I love my Chinese Equipment, hate to think my country is so stupid as to somehow depict amazing Chinese production as bad. China can save the world from severe climate change, if we only embrace their massive production capabilities.

China used to make really bad quality products to the point literally anything that breaks is "cheap Chinese crap". that's mostly a thing of the past. China is a manufacturing powerhouse now, and their standards are getting really good.. they're leading in a lot of ways. I respect the improvements.

Even the USA, Japan and Korea in the early days of manufacturing made cheap crap. The USA copied from the British and Europeans to start its manufacturing sector. Everyone has to start somewhere and then improve over time.

China has no need of explaining or justifying themselves to the West! They are a sovereign country/nation including the island of Taiwan, same as Tasmania is an island in Australia! Not oppressed, but the US, NATO, EU, Ally countries have in the past 40 years alone attacked united, weak countries like Iraq (90% of the killed were civilians 10% army) with another 90 sovereign countries on the planet. Regime changes with their own puppets in government, civil (Libya is just one) wars, proxy wars (Ukraine 1 example, with 1.5 million men, plus tens of thousands US, NATO, EU, Ally soldiers & 1000 high ranking officers all dead) at least that many maimed for life! That's right, Mr. Zhang should laugh because he knows that one of the things that has allowed the U.S. to dominate the skies is its antiquated GPS that has become inferior to China's BeiDou System which will soon prove China and Iran's superiority over the U.S./Israeli and the West's military and digital technologies.
Another conversation I would like for Mr. Zhang to talk about is the complexity of Iran and its Jewish settler issue. One of the biggest problems Iran has is its Jewish population which they have over 6 million Jewish settlers living in their country. You know that Mossad and other Israeli/U.S. terrorist organizations live and work among the population. Iran must implement limited restrictions to Jewish settlers' access to certain key government agencies and military areas while they are still at WAR with the Israeli Settler State backed by the U.S. Military and its government.

The mainland wins because Taiwan relies on fossil fuel carried by sitting ducks. Very little force, resulting in very low casualties, namely crew of the sitting ducks, will cast an atmosphere of severe energy insecurity on Taiwan that will result in global divestiture.
Now by mere military drills around Taiwan, the mainland has already persuaded the US to hollow out Taiwan. No US government will be derelict enough to continue to rely on Taiwan, meaning to plan to wage war against China/Russia for US industries after c. 2040. Increasing threat without execution will continue to be effective in eroding Taiwan's economy in the years and decades to come.
The mainland will control Taiwan remotely, with increasing ease and certainty, by allowing or disallowing smooth flow of energy to Taiwan. It will be just a matter of time although not quite imminent.
When a humanity-ending war is manifestly possible but has not happened, the US will be forced into inaction. Understanding this truism will require fairness of the mind that leads to comprehensive understanding of the USA--the global picture, US-China relations. Even in 2025, China already sees fit and possible to challenge the US through rare earths, yet a hot war is not in the offing. Just imagine 2045-2050.
US-China relations remain stable, and Taiwan is a further stabilizing hostage of concern to both, not a flashpoint whatsoever.

China has had thousands of years of experiences in dealing with foreign powers, either friendly or hostile.
They welcomed and intermarried with friendly foreigners but fought fiercely with hostile ones which they termed them as barbarians.

Even the USA, Japan and Korea in the early days of manufacturing made cheap crap. The USA copied from the British and Europeans to start its manufacturing sector. Everyone has to start somewhere and then improve over time.

China has no need of explaining or justifying themselves to the West! They are a sovereign country/nation including the island of Taiwan, same as Tasmania is an island in Australia! Not oppressed, but the US, NATO, EU, Ally countries have in the past 40 years alone attacked united, weak countries like Iraq (90% of the killed were civilians 10% army) with another 90 sovereign countries on the planet. Regime changes with their own puppets in government, civil (Libya is just one) wars, proxy wars (Ukraine 1 example, with 1.5 million men, plus tens of thousands US, NATO, EU, Ally soldiers & 1000 high ranking officers all dead) at least that many maimed for life! Biden said it publicly 4 years ago, that they are willing to fight till the last Ukrainian & Taiwan's men!

That's right, Mr. Zhang should laugh because he knows that one of the things that has allowed the U.S. to dominate the skies is its antiquated GPS that has become inferior to China's BeiDou System which will soon prove China and Iran's superiority over the U.S./Israeli and the West's military and digital technologies.
Another conversation I would like for Mr. Zhang to talk about is the complexity of Iran and its Jewish settler issue. One of the biggest problems Iran has is its Jewish population which they have over 6 million Jewish settlers living in their country. You know that Mossad and other Israeli/U.S. terrorist organizations live and work among the population. Iran must implement limited restrictions to Jewish settlers' access to certain key government agencies and military areas while they are still at WAR with the Israeli Settler State backed by the U.S. Military and its government.

The mainland wins because Taiwan relies on fossil fuel carried by sitting ducks. Very little force, resulting in very low casualties, namely crew of the sitting ducks, will cast an atmosphere of severe energy insecurity on Taiwan that will result in global divestiture.
Now by mere military drills around Taiwan, the mainland has already persuaded the US to hollow out Taiwan. No US government will be derelict enough to continue to rely on Taiwan, meaning to plan to wage war against China/Russia for US industries after c. 2040. Increasing threat without execution will continue to be effective in eroding Taiwan's economy in the years and decades to come.
The mainland will control Taiwan remotely, with increasing ease and certainty, by allowing or disallowing smooth flow of energy to Taiwan. It will be just a matter of time although not quite imminent.
When a humanity-ending war is manifestly possible but has not happened, the US will be forced into inaction. Understanding this truism will require fairness of the mind that leads to comprehensive understanding of the USA--the global picture, US-China relations. Even in 2025, China already sees fit and possible to challenge the US through rare earths, yet a hot war is not in the offing. Just imagine 2045-2050.
US-China relations remain stable, and Taiwan is a further stabilizing hostage of concern to both, not a flashpoint whatsoever.

China has had thousands of years of experiences in dealing with foreign powers, either friendly or hostile.
They welcomed and intermarried with friendly foreigners but fought fiercely with hostile ones which they termed them as barbarians.
Americans today probably are called barbarians and they shall fight it out with full force as did by many of their forefathers who had had overcome and won over many a barbarian.
