Just curious, what do Chinese people in China think about this new enactment for numerous countries?

Smoking indoors has been banned in China for I believe two to three years ago, people still do it in the bathrooms but I haven’t seen open indoor smoking as of 2024 in T1 cities. I would also ask when this happened. China has changed a lot in the last 10 years. Regardless, to say all of China is like this after two experiences is like I say. “Least racist redditor”

China is so big, so deep, so vast, that anything foreign or foreigner related has absolutely nothing to do with 99.9999999999% of the Chinese population. Whether it's things happening in foreign countries, or foreigners liking/disliking China, or visiting China. So short answer is they don't really care. For those who work in the tourism industry and at locations where foreigners frequent, they'll be happy. But that's about it really.

Makes sense. I'll be honest in saying that I sometimes completely forget that China is home to more than 1 billion people. Coming from Canada, where our population is only 42 million, its hard for me to grasp at such numbers.
Part of the reason why I'm excited to go! Especially to Chongqing where (correct me if I'm wrong), the population is only around ten million less than the entirety of Canada!

That definition of 'Chongqing' is the size of Austria. All of China is packed with people, but I wouldn't say that Chongqing necessarily feels denser than other places. If you want to see a gazillion people, go to a busy spot in the center of Hong Kong for example (like TST).

Most probably aren't even aware of it. Even with these loosened restrictions there's very, very few foreigners (let alone 'visible' foreigners, ie non-East Asians). So other than a few ultra-nationalists/incels they don't care. Maybe they're curious.

Makes sense, especially since this is just the beginning of the restrictions being loosened. I'd imagine a lot of the anti-Chinese rhetoric from the west (whether valid or not, I'm in no position to comment on that) influences a lot of things too in terms of more western foreigners coming in.

Not at all. I can tell you that I now run into white every single day — something that would have been unthinkable five years ago — and South Asians on the streets have noticeably increased as well. I'll admit this has a lot to do with which city you're in, but the difference is absolutely something you can feel directly.

Nobody cares or is aware there is such a program on visa free countries. Foreigners make up such a small, insignificant number of tourists when compared to domestic tourists, and frankly speaking the domestic markets are so huge, there is no reason for the China tourism market to cater for foreigners.

Personally, I hope they don't cater it for foreigners! Personally, I believe some sort of natural 'struggle' should happen when learning a foreign culture in all its nuances and glory. For example, this is the first time in my life where I'm truly trying to learn some simple words and phrases in another language because of how few people in the area of China I'm going to (or so I've heard) speak/understand english! Been very exciting!
EDIT: Just forgot I myself had to learn English and Canadian culture as I'm an immigrant in Canada from Romania, woops.

Im currently a white guy visiting China from Canada. In Chongqing and Foshan I constantly have people come up try some english with me and tell me to enjoy my stay.
I cant speak for Chinese people but there are far fewer out of country tourists so I think the attitude is completely different. Do you realise how ridiculous that statement is? Of course each country in Europe evolves over time and many popular places: Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Hallstatt … struggle with overtourism. There’s a reason that people still go there though because the culture and history are beautiful. Having said that, Central and Eastern Europe are great to visit too

I would like to add on that Paris is historically a "dirty" city. Not fair to really say its more dirty nowadays due to tourists/immigration/whatever, as Paris used to be very behind other European cities on cleanliness and hygiene, even more than 200 years ago. Reading up on Haussmann's Transformation is quite interesting imo.

Same applies to London as well, with Paris and London have been documented to always have been dirty af compared to the rest of the country they were in (even before people called the rest countries). There's many many other sources backing up your claims as well.
Regarding China, I know most Chinese dgaf about foreign tourists. But there are still many (simply cause of how many people live in China) who think it's fun to have some aliens and will want to practice English and test their translation apps.

Chinese people in general are a very welcoming populace. It's arguably THE most welcoming large country I've ever visited, by far. They like, actually like me. Not the "I am nice to the foreigner to save face but I won't be absorbing anything from her" vibe like what I felt in Japan.
I think these measures would be welcomed or not cared about in general as the Chinese today are fairly confident in the central government making generally good decisions or amending bad ones relatively quickly. (I learned recently that most of their laws are rolled out in response to public polling on various topics).
Another factor is that the tiktok ban and westerners flocking to Rednote for a while showed us how nice China actually is while it also showed the Chinese how nice China actually is (many Chinese people who've never travelled abroad really worship the West).
There were people on there telling us that the stupid *** uses propaganda to tell them that we go bankrupt if we get sick here and ambulances cost hundreds of dollars and our teachers don't even make a living wage and we were like "uh... So that's not .. propaganda."
In that context I bet many of them welcome as many foreigners as possible to come see their country and dispel our brainwashing.
That's just my view though.

When I'm in Vancouver, its very hard to not notice them. Vancouver is also a touristic hotspot for Canada in general.
I could imagine this would be applied even more if you live in a place that is not considered touristic. If you're from LA, yeah you wouldn't think about it because its an extreme tourist hotspot. Boise, Idaho? I'm sure they would be thinking about it if a bunch of people just started showing up, lol. That was my experience on my roadtrip through the US and going through all the smaller parts at least.
EDIT: I asked the original question because it is a new development for China. Canada and the US (less the latter lately) have been historically very open to tourists, so that could be why we also don't think about them anymore as they've become a big part of our society. China, on the other hand (from what I've read, could be wrong) seems to have a lot of domestic tourism, but not as much international.

Maybe Beijing, or Shanghai have tons but in Chonqing I wandered the city all day and in the giant crowds I saw only 2 other non Chinese faces. (I did meet a Chinese-Canadian visitor so there's some but you get the idea)
