10 years ago I shot holes in a Chinese steel copy of a pasgt helmet and 9mm went through like butter. Angles could force a ricochet but most went through. I'd imagine things have improved quite a bit since then though. Any kind of composite layering done well would be better than stamped steel.

If you look at China helmet and body armor directly from company website, They have all infomation about the product up front, From very cheap level IIA steel helmet to level IIIA aramid/kevlar helmet, Even rifle round level III if you can afford it price or level III steel helmet if you can handle the weight.

This is a very well-done video--the sight gags were perfect!
While it held up well, the helmet still looks a bit light for my comfort. While the permanent deformation wasn't great, those hits should still produce some hard knocks against the wearer's skull.
I can see this as a good bump helmet and mount of NODs, but for combat, I would prefer something heavier.

my main concern in any products is product quality consistency: Analyzing one helmet is one thing but analyzing bigger samples shows how consistent their products are (or not). Chinese products can be good but I still recommend caution if it's a product that your life will depend on it.

Now and then they accidentally make good products. With no correlation to price. 200 buck scooter with design flaws has worked great for 5 years, 400 buck one stopped working in one month. Strongly assume their military products are similar. There's no reliability in brand name, review scores, listed capabilities, etc. You buy ten different brands of an item, you'll get 8-9 stinkers and the 1-2 that are good get no attention.

Just how many folks are simply oblivious about the change in the outside world. I mentioned this when I responded someone’s comment, the whole “made in…” thing started with England forcing Germany to print “made in Germany” on every product it produced and sold in the market, this was before WWI, Germany at that time mainly produced low quality cheap stuff (sounds familiar?) England’s purpose was to forcefully put this label on Germany and smear its reputation as a humiliation.

Because the point is to demonstrate its ability to survive lower caliber firearms that a police might encounter. There is currently no helmet that can actually survive high caliber rounds. The point of high caliber weapons is to just make big holes in things that are not tank armor.

I found it very strong and heavy, but since I had never used a military helmet before, I have no basis for comparison. I'm very happy to know that the helmet can withstand 9mm projectiles.

China is capable of making quality products, if you're willing to pay for it. Some high-end knives, for example, are made in China for Western corporations. They're not going to cost what a cheap Chinese knife costs as they are not cheaply made. Very much a "get what you pay for" type of thing.

10 years ago I shot holes in a Chinese steel copy of a pasgt helmet and 9mm went through like butter. Angles could force a ricochet but most went through. I'd imagine things have improved quite a bit since then though. Any kind of composite layering done well would be better than stamped steel.

While it held up well, the helmet still looks a bit light for my comfort. While the permanent deformation wasn't great, those hits should still produce some hard knocks against the wearer's skull.
I can see this as a good bump helmet and mount of NODs, but for combat, I would prefer something heavier.

my main concern in any products is product quality consistency: Analyzing one helmet is one thing but analyzing bigger samples shows how consistent their products are (or not). Chinese products can be good but I still recommend caution if it's a product that your life will depend on it.

As far as I know there are many local suppliers just slap made in xx tags on Chinese made equipments and they are solid in terms of performance, China produces wild range of goods from crap to first class depending on the price.

Wasn’t trying to leave no comment here, but was curious to see what people say about the helmet as I’m interested in tactical stuff and all sorts of testing videos, but the comment section really freakin’ got on my nerve. Just how many folks are simply oblivious about the change in the outside world. I mentioned this when I responded someone’s comment, the whole “made in…” thing started with England forcing Germany to print “made in Germany” on every product it produced and sold in the market, this was before WWI, Germany at that time mainly produced low quality cheap stuff (sounds familiar?) England’s purpose was to forcefully put this label on Germany and smear its reputation as a humiliation.

Because the point is to demonstrate its ability to survive lower caliber firearms that a police might encounter. There is currently no helmet that can actually survive high caliber rounds. The point of high caliber weapons is to just make big holes in things that are not tank armor.

I bought one of these military helmets a year ago. They seemed good to me, obviously I didn't test it because I only had enough money to buy one helmet. I found it very strong and heavy, but since I had never used a military helmet before, I have no basis for comparison. I'm very happy to know that the helmet can withstand 9mm projectiles.
