I was hired from a graduate business school and started work at the head office. I met this American lady who asked me if we were allowed to party in Singapore. May be she thought Singapore is in North Korea!
Nine months later I returned to Singapore to start work from the new office. I would receive mail from the head office, addressed Singapore, China.
A few years after I retired, I informed an investment bank to close my account in the U.S. A few weeks later I received a letter from this investment bank, addressed Singapore, Japan. May be this bank thought Singapore is still under Japanese occupation.

I’m not sure racism was the reason why Morris left Texas Instruments and went to Taiwan. It was the 70s and Republic of China government established a scientific campus and wanted to transform from farming small manufacturing low profit economy to technical industry so invited Morris to Taiwan and gave him government subsidy and technical support. Morris was not the only engineer invited and TSMC is not the only company formed that time. Morris Chang was born in mainland China, never being to Taiwan prior, but also did not live under People’s Republic of China region.

The auto assembly line no longer employs humans to install a wheel and tire onto an axle; this task is completely automated for some years. Likewise in the chip industry. You need to upxe your knowledge base, quickly, else you sound like a fool.

It’s very simple. The US kept cutting funding on scientific research. I’m sure none of the Chinese top scientists returning home are in the weapons or military sector. China is offering to pay them a lot more. I had a Chinese professor who had been in the US for decades. Same thing, he left for a university in HK because they are paying him a whole lot more than US. It wasn’t used to be the case, now things are changing. China can afford to offer very competitive salaries for their top pps now.

Many many Chinese scientists who move back do research that contribute to the American military complex, and many of them choose to leave. I recently read an article about that. I'm sure if you look it up you'd find it.

That’s not saying much at all. At least half of research come from military industrial complex fundings. I know this first hand. When I was doing my PhD half of our AI educational technology projects were funded by the military, including that Chinese professor that I mentioned. He went back to China after the HK university offered a much higher salary for him. He was not working in the military sector but in a university, but technically, his work was part of the military industrial complex because in the US at least half of scientific research is funded by MIC anyways doesn’t matter where you are. That’s not something you can really escape.

Not just racism, but from a practical standpoint, the US is cutting research funding under the new administration, so even if they were willing to tolerate the racism for the money, they now have no monetary incentive to stay. So it makes sense both ways

Even foreigners are employed in China. My Cousin went to China this January for a job in the field of chemistry. He is a scientist and works as part of a research team. His contract period is one year and six months. He told me that China has made significant progress in his field. His contract company has provided him with an excellent salary and a great apartment. I don’t think he will be coming back anytime soon.

I was hired from a graduate business school and started work at the head office. I met this American lady who asked me if we were allowed to party in Singapore. May be she thought Singapore is in North Korea!
Nine months later I returned to Singapore to start work from the new office. I would receive mail from the head office, addressed Singapore, China.
A few years after I retired, I informed an investment bank to close my account in the U.S. A few weeks later I received a letter from this investment bank, addressed Singapore, Japan. May be this bank thought Singapore is still under Japanese occupation.

I’m not sure racism was the reason why Morris left Texas Instruments and went to Taiwan. It was the 70s and Republic of China government established a scientific campus and wanted to transform from farming small manufacturing low profit economy to technical industry so invited Morris to Taiwan and gave him government subsidy and technical support. Morris was not the only engineer invited and TSMC is not the only company formed that time. Morris Chang was born in mainland China, never being to Taiwan prior, but also did not live under People’s Republic of China region.

It’s very simple. The US kept cutting funding on scientific research. I’m sure none of the Chinese top scientists returning home are in the weapons or military sector. China is offering to pay them a lot more. I had a Chinese professor who had been in the US for decades. Same thing, he left for a university in HK because they are paying him a whole lot more than US. It wasn’t used to be the case, now things are changing. China can afford to offer very competitive salaries for their top pps now.

That’s not saying much at all. At least half of research come from military industrial complex fundings. I know this first hand. When I was doing my PhD half of our AI educational technology projects were funded by the military, including that Chinese professor that I mentioned. He went back to China after the HK university offered a much higher salary for him. He was not working in the military sector but in a university, but technically, his work was part of the military industrial complex because in the US at least half of scientific research is funded by MIC anyways doesn’t matter where you are. That’s not something you can really escape.

Not just racism, but from a practical standpoint, the US is cutting research funding under the new administration, so even if they were willing to tolerate the racism for the money, they now have no monetary incentive to stay. So it makes sense both ways

Even foreigners are employed in China. My Cousin went to China this January for a job in the field of chemistry. He is a scientist and works as part of a research team. His contract period is one year and six months. He told me that China has made significant progress in his field. His contract company has provided him with an excellent salary and a great apartment. I don’t think he will be coming back anytime soon.
