This could even escalate to overthrowing their own governments in the “sheikdoms” if they do not show enough support for Iran. And Iran will more and more use their friendly proxies of Yemen and Iraq as safe havens from US retribution.

The “decapitation” of religious leaders is really stupid. It is the IRGC that runs the country. But going after the religious leaders makes it into a religious was. See Point 1. It has the potential to cripple the global economy. Cutting off the Asian oil supply through the Strait of Hormuz is one highly effective method. It's hard to say how this is going to turn out but it doesn't look good at this point. Iran is a decentralized state and is not as vulnerable to shock and awe and leadership decapitation as the United States might think. It is also a mountain fortress and It could swallow a large army. Of course Iran has its own vulnerabilities such as a water shortage , a food crisis, and to be disrupted by various surrounding ethnic groups. The entire situation is very volatile very dangerous and extremely unpredictable.

Yes but it is unlikely. The US did lose in Vietnam and Afghanistan after all and had to pull out after facing heavy losses. But in neither conflict did they fully mobilise their entire society towards total war like the Allies did in World War Two. The American public had also turned against both wars. And whilst the enemy in both conflicts was evil the Americans didn't help themselves by being very unethical themselves - manufacturing and utilising Agent Orange chemical weapons as well as waterboarding, torturing and shooting Afghan / Iraqi civilians in the War on Terror. Iran could win just by protecting their leadership, holding out and keeping iron control on the ground through their security forces and paramilitaries. America and Israel by contrast have the hard job of not just cutting the head off the snake - but also removing the ideological faithful who are the backbone of the regime itself.

It's hard to say how this is going to turn out but it doesn't look good at this point. Iran is a decentralized state and is not as vulnerable to shock and awe and leadership decapitation as the United States might think. It is also a mountain fortress and It could swallow a large army. Of course Iran has its own vulnerabilities such as a water shortage , a food crisis, and to be disrupted by various surrounding ethnic groups. The entire situation is very volatile very dangerous and extremely unpredictable.

Yes but it is unlikely. The US did lose in Vietnam and Afghanistan after all and had to pull out after facing heavy losses. But in neither conflict did they fully mobilise their entire society towards total war like the Allies did in World War Two. The American public had also turned against both wars. And whilst the enemy in both conflicts was evil the Americans didn't help themselves by being very unethical themselves - manufacturing and utilising Agent Orange chemical weapons as well as waterboarding, torturing and shooting Afghan / Iraqi civilians in the War on Terror. Iran could win just by protecting their leadership, holding out and keeping iron control on the ground through their security forces and paramilitaries. America and Israel by contrast have the hard job of not just cutting the head off the snake - but also removing the ideological faithful who are the backbone of the regime itself.
