I usually take train from London to Birmingham or Leicester on business trip every 2 to 3 weeks. Let me tell you that trains often delays or sometimes get cancelled....but i don't complain as this happens too often.....so Britain trains cant even compare to trains in Italy or Germany, let alone to high speed trains in China.

I travel first class through work with Avantl and it is closer to the Chinese first class than the one he traveled on. Depending on the time of travel it is a free meal and a regular free trolley with drinks and snacks and 1st class lounges in a lot of stations (not all but a lot).
To me this video was like I’m going to compare restaurants in two countries then goes to a restaurant in one and a McDonald’s in the other.

Crosscountry is a rubbish company and I mean rubbish. I am surprised the train was not cancelled because of driver shortage with people stuffed onto another train which ran out of seats, as happened to me too many times, including the last service of the day from which they could not even stuff us onto another train. And £9 for a 20km journey that takes 16 min is quite poor. There is no point going first class on Crosscountry. Just go standard with airline, not table, seats unless sharing a table with people you know. And by the way if you suffer from motion sickness, Crosscountry trains tend to trigger it more easily so have your pills ready.

Paying for first-class and having to sit there starring at the guy opposite of you, and be starred at equally, is simply awkward and embarassing. I'd rather having those seats facing forward so I don't have to see his face for hours! Imagine if he's trying to talk to you during the whole trip......

Of all the First Class trains to use he chose CrossCountry! If he wanted to see a truer 1st in the UK he should have chosen Avanti, LNER or GWR. On XC it's just an add on, not a true 1st. Also you can't buy forward or reverse-facing seats on CrossCountry because the train can reverse en route and so you can't guarantee which way round the sets will be! I assume he probably used Trainline as they were asked to remove that option 20 years ago but probably never did. Finally the Voyagers are now 25 years old compared to China's new ones.

I travel first class through work with Avantl and it is closer to the Chinese first class than the one he traveled on. Depending on the time of travel it is a free meal and a regular free trolley with drinks and snacks and 1st class lounges in a lot of stations (not all but a lot).
To me this video was like I’m going to compare restaurants in two countries then goes to a restaurant in one and a McDonald’s in the other.

Crosscountry is a rubbish company and I mean rubbish. I am surprised the train was not cancelled because of driver shortage with people stuffed onto another train which ran out of seats, as happened to me too many times, including the last service of the day from which they could not even stuff us onto another train. And £9 for a 20km journey that takes 16 min is quite poor. There is no point going first class on Crosscountry. Just go standard with airline, not table, seats unless sharing a table with people you know. And by the way if you suffer from motion sickness, Crosscountry trains tend to trigger it more easily so have your pills ready.

Paying for first-class and having to sit there starring at the guy opposite of you, and be starred at equally, is simply awkward and embarassing. I'd rather having those seats facing forward so I don't have to see his face for hours! Imagine if he's trying to talk to you during the whole trip......

Of all the First Class trains to use he chose CrossCountry! If he wanted to see a truer 1st in the UK he should have chosen Avanti, LNER or GWR. On XC it's just an add on, not a true 1st. Also you can't buy forward or reverse-facing seats on CrossCountry because the train can reverse en route and so you can't guarantee which way round the sets will be! I assume he probably used Trainline as they were asked to remove that option 20 years ago but probably never did. Finally the Voyagers are now 25 years old compared to China's new ones.
