I'd like to think this instrument is made from wood of a tree that's seen people at their softest. I imagine an old woman, planting the tree on the top of a little hillside, and caring for it until the tree has enough with nature to grow on its own, and she can fall asleep for the last time beside the young tree. I imagine a family, with little children playing around it as the parents rest against its bark. I imagine the tree being home to lovers who met under its growing shade, and to a lonely and wise soul who seeks refuge from the rush of modern society. I imagine the person who cut the tree down being a young man who didn't want to cut down the old tree. I imagine the craftsman who recieved the wood, and made this instrument putting into it all the time and effort that a father puts into his children. So that someday, someone would tell the tale of the old tree through harmonious music.

Guqin is definitely my favorite instruments out of all cuz it’s very very elegant and calming. I played violin, trombone, piano, French horn and handbell but non of em have the Same way as I feel the guqin. For western instruments , I feel like you dun rlly need to have feelings between instruments and yourself, plus u can just grab a random violin then start playing. Meanwhile for the guqin, u have to put feeling to it cuz every single guqin was made in different woods and different shapes. I have great “relationship” with my guqin and it’s always the best to play with my own guqin, the sound is different, the feeling is different, the emotion is different too! It’s definitely worth trying (to learn guqin)!!!

This is what years and years of practice and a lifelong passion would look like, mind blowing, breathtaking.
