There are numerous ways to ask for help.
However, there are also many attendant problems or difficulties.
You are your biggest obstacle because by nature you find it very uncomfortable to open your mouth to asking for help.
Your problems are so diversified that you don't know to whom you should ask or the people you ask might not be the right people for your problems.
You don't know to whom you should approach for help because even you yourself don't truly and fully understand your own problems.
When you ask for help, it would have to be at the other party's convenience, not yours.
You can attend motivational courses which require time and money that you may not be able to afford.

We lost our dog Of 13 years a month and 1/2 ago and now my brother, mom and I want a dog again but my dad doesn’t. I’ve been having a hard time in life and my therapist said it’s a good idea. I can pay for it myself. Should I get it on my own?
Have you ask your dad in a kind way why he doesn’t want another dog? Listen to what he says. Was he attached to the last dog? Parents need to think about the future. I’m not sure how old you are but you must be at least 13 years old. So, in 5 years you’ll leave for college or might move out. Your parents will be older and have to care financially and physically for the dog for another 5–10 years. Dogs are expensive to feed, get shots, and go to the vet when sick. He might think he doesn’t want another dog because he loved the last one and another will never be as good. It’s true, and you need to remember this, no dog will be the same. I have 15 dogs at our farm currently between my dogs and fosters. Every one of them is their own personality and soul. I love all of them. I recently lost a very special dog to me that was a rare Pyrenean Mastiff I had for 13 years. I relied on him to guard our farm and he slept in my room at night and provided security for me while sleeping. Maybe your dad is not done being sad for the death of your dog. In my experience, it usually takes a good 6 months to a year, before most people are ready for another dog. Men usually take longer than women. Don’t rush too much, or you may regret a choice you made without really thinking it through.
I hope you have a happy ending that the whole family is happy with.

When do older people need help?
When they are unable to do some things that they want to do or need to do but can’t do because of constraints of physical strength, health issues, mental issues (confusion for example) etc.
While I am in general good healthwise, I don’t feel like going out to banks and other financial institutions. I am able to do most of my work online but do need to go once or twice a month, but feel lazy or old. I wish some one would help me either freely or on a small payment.

They tend to be low-key, lazy, and cuddle bugs in the house.
One would need a solid fenced yard to let them out as if they pick up an interesting scent, they’d follow their noses and be gone.

My Grandmother lost her husband a few months ago and wants to get a dog to keep her company. She's low-mobility but very enthusiastic and attentive to pets. I can help her with training and care. What breed would you recommend?
A hound.
They tend to be low-key, lazy, and cuddle bugs in the house.
One would need a solid fenced yard to let them out as if they pick up an interesting scent, they’d follow their noses and be gone.
They also need to go on walks……might she be able to afford a daily dog walker?
I’ve six past dogs, and one current dog. Our current one is some sort of small mixed hound. He’s a quiet little guy who loves comfort. My past hound was a larger dog……a fox hound mix. She acted the same in the house as my current hound.

How can I help my dog?
Before you do anything else, get him to the veterinarian so his wounds can be tended to and hopefully avoid an infection so you don’t compromise his health or if the possible infection is severe, possibly kill him. While you’re there get his neuter surgery scheduled. They probably won’t want to do that surgery until his wounds have healed. While you’re waiting for the surgery date to arrive, keep him in the house
If you prefer risking his life to having him neutered then you are not a responsible dog owner and please consider rehoming the dog so his needs can be attended to. Neuter surgery will stop hormone driven dog fights.
