The slow down in Germany economic is not unexpected considering the fact the cheap energy supply from Russia was no longer coming as it use to be.
The implication of that is that the cost of production of goods in Germany increased which then led to less competitiveness in market.

@apb2081 as you know, Germany produces cars. Cars have a lot of plastic parts. Plastic is made from oil and gas, etc.. So big chemical factories are closed now. Without Russian gas and oil they are not competitive anymore. This is just one example.
By the way renewable energy is also more expensive at the moment in Germany than Russian gas and oil.
Unfortunately, it is not so easy as you think.

Exactly. Germany rosed and developed after ww2 thanks to Russias cheap gas. No gas no production, or your goods cost increase by 50%-100% and ocforse people do not want buy expensive products they will go for cheaper alternatives - like chineese and Polish stuff so they will go bankrupt if the Germany not wake up and get rid of Nato and america. We in Europe need Russia cheap energy.

Living in Germany for more than 13 years, it is sad to say that the crisis is true. And it's not temporary. The inflation (even though decreasing at a snail's pace)and the stagnant wages are hitting the people real hard at the moment. But they also have more bigger problems to handle and what the govt. is doing is just not enough. They will have huge working population crisis in the coming years which in turn slows down the economy not to mention the pension for the now working people in the next 20 years is a question itself.

Germany has know for decades their dependance on Russian gas and oil, but turned a complecent blind eye on it, and did not diversify their economy, basing everything on manufacturing and exports, neither did they invest anything in their military for decades (it is today one of the weakest of Western Europe). They also decided to shut down their nuclear power plants at the worst time, so they are paying for their past bad decisions today.

The phrase was coined by Charles De Gaulle in 1970 to describe the UK which, after having dued sterling in 1967 ,was still in a disastrous economic situation and begging desperately to join the EEC. I know this pretty well because I left the UK, where I was born, in 1970.
