People need to realize this wasnt a failure, this was a successful test of maximum thresholds capacity. Its a win

@DAGATHire
In the United States, this is not a failure. If it happened in Russia or China, it would be a shameful failure.

@blackdogadonis people do realize that we learn more from "failure" then from success, this is just the beginning. This didn't go as planned, but it was a success getting to this point non the less. This is just one test out of many. I'm definitely looking forward to Elon Musk's mission to get humanity into space

@IainRuzgute-gf3vx
Absolutely agree! People need to shift their perspective—this wasn’t a failure at all, but rather a successful test to identify the maximum threshold capacity. It’s a win in terms of progress and understanding limits. Now, the question is: how will this new data shape future advancements?

it was ready for a catch which didn't happen. up to u to spin.

@cruz1aviator
Can't spin this. Both the Booster and Ship today had a SOFTER and SMOOTHER water landing than ANY manned parachute capsule splashdown ever IN HISTORY!!

Trust SLY NEWS to spin this story negatively. Still sour over Trump and Elon's most recent promotions. They didn't "fail to dock" anything.

@garyc1384they have to test also emergency scenarios, this test was about testing starship to its limits rather than trying to be perfect like flight 5, that’s why the test flight was pretty much identical to flight 5

@KevinNguyen1
Would be more appropriate in a theoretical worst case, where the booster is near the tower and the chopsticks missed the booster. But still, using the word docking does not sound right for catching something out of the air.

@KevinNguyen1
Just realized that they said Starship, not the booster, failed to dock. That makes it more funny lol. Also realized they misspelled the word "successfully."

And remember that the ship was using an older version of the heat shield tiles, with 2100 of them totally removed as a test, and was at an increased angle of entry to further stress the craft, and it STILL managed to get back for a sea touch down. We haven't yet heard if the catch was aborted due to a problem with the booster or the catch tower. The tower is more expensive and time consuming to build than the boosters, of which they have several ready to go, so this is also a possibility that something failed on the tower which prevented a catch attempt.

@juhovalio5906
@annie_the_great The booster, wich is called superheavy is meant to be caught by the chopstick arms. In this test, there was some kind of malfunction of either the booster or the tower, wich prevented them from trying to catch the booster. The plan B is to make a soft splashdown to the ocean. And that was successful. There was no explosion. Raptors do flame quite a bit when turning off and they release a huge amount of steam from the water, wich might seem like an explosion.

No need to catch the booster to impress Democrats running NASA. From now on Elon will be writing his own cheques.

@mho...:
that shows atleast that their systems work well,they saw something not working right & aborted! even for a "failed" landing it touched the water smoothly & upright! was still a good one!
