Sad, but I'm not really suprised. Vietnamese authorities have slept on environmental protection so far, regardless of it's consequences. Since criticism has to be deliverered thoughtfully, the will to work on it has also been very small.

Not sure if this is the quality of the camera or that is what the human eye will see upon arriving in Hanoi today. The problem with this article, is that the ranking was only momentary, in IQ Air it is based on real time and it quickly fell out of the top 10. Still a wake up call for the government though.

If you cross the land border from China into Vietnam, you immediately notice the drop in air quality and increase in noise. In China, 99% of the scooters are electric powered, but in Vietnam 99% of the scooters are gasoline powered.

It's not about the vehicles emissions. The main emmisions are from people burning ashes, factories without modern filtration and also emmision from China to Vietnam. The central and South Vietnam still ok with more vehicles

Hanoi has so so many problems, this is coming from a resident that has been living here ever since I was born. Hanoi is a beautiful city, rich in cultures and traditions, the people of Vietnam is one of the most friendliest in the world. But this air pollution problems has going on for years and years and it's just getting worse day by day. The reasons for the air pollution in Hanoi is vary: skyrocketing amount of cars and motorbikes, construction and heavy industry, including steelworks, cement factories and coal-fired plants surrounding the city. I made up my mind to move out of Hanoi as soon as I got my bachelor cause ain't no way I'm gonna deal with it anymore, especially when my sinus problem is getting worse cause of the air. I just really hope the people gonna improve their awareness 'bout the environment and the government is going to do something huge soon cause they've neglected and overlooked this problem for years

As a resident of Hanoi city im incredibly dissappointed and ashamed of our alarming pollution problem..many people simply dont care and dont take environmental-friendly practices seriously. plastics are pilling up everywhere, from the streets to the rivers, and the dense accumilation of toxic fumes from traffic and industrial waste continues to choke our air. despite our government implementing laws they havent really enforced their regulations very seriously because as a person who lives in hanoi myself, its so easy to spot environmental problems everywhere in our city. i hope this will soon change in the future.

This is probably the live ranking table which is meaningless since it's hourly upxe and air pollution is something that flunctuate greatly throughout the day or between days. So at that particular moment, says Delhi had a huge storm to clear the air while Vietnam had no wind, stationary air. So they need to quote the number, and if they do, it's no where near as bad as South Asia. An even better way is to list the long-term data, such as monthly or yearly. Now I'm not saying that air pollution in Vietnam is not bad, I'm saying that it's not "the most polluted" as the grabbing headline says here, definitely not at the level of South Asian cities.
Btw, I'm Vietnamese, and I have to leave Hanoi/Northern Vietnam because of its air pollution.
