My bag was stolen at Barcelona airport in the terminal. We caught the guy, his accomplice got away. It took 20 minutes for the police to arrive ( in an international airport terminal!).
She was trying to spend money using my 3 credit cards, all of which I had blocked immediately. So I could show the police exactly where they were in the city.. down to the shop name. But they would not sent anyone to the area or get the street cameras checked, it was a bright yellow handbag so very noticible!.
That episode cost us £2000 as we had to wait for new emergency passports, buy new plane tickets, get new prescxtion glasses.
And I bet the Albanian team are still stealing the airport terminals…

Not Barcelona, but Rome. Spotted a guy at the bottom of a Metro station escalator looking at everyone coming down. There was me dressed in my best tourist gear with a backpack and a big Nikon camera. I knew straight off what he was doing and sure enough he came right behind me as I waited for the train. I even turned and gave him a nod and a smile, which he returned. Undeterred, as I went to step onto the train, I felt his fingers dip into the left pocket of my shorts to come out with a grotty, used paper hanky. Ah, revenge is sweet.

They warned you then to watch for that and pick pockets - Were organized rings that specialized in it.
