In Europe, as natural gas prices have continued to soar, people have been searching for alternatives to gas heating. This has led to an interesting phenomenon: Europe, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, is now importing large numbers of air-source heat pumps from China.
China is now being seen as a global leader in heat pumps, so today I’m here at China’s heat pump exhibition to see for myself what makes it so impressive.

US simply decided it should be the only big boy player on the playground and decided to make China its enemy because China is out leveling the US in some important fields and fast catching up in others. US doesn't like that. It wants to be 'lord' of everything and everyone. It doesn't like competition that challenges them.

Is this a joke? The cost of electricity in the EU is extremely high in many places! For example, here we pay between €130 and €160 for a consumption of 650 kWh, depending on the season. Electricity in the EU is a catastrophe unless we get nuclear power plants soon. Solar energy won't save us, as demand is growing faster than solar energy can keep up with.

Yikes, my sympathies. My electricty is $20 - $30 per month. In the tropics in a 2800 sq ft condo with AC running year-round, and electric stove oven fridge & water heaters. An american expat now living in Singapore & Malaysia. Taxes and electricity charges are very low here.

Interesting. My understanding is that the Japanese brands are still regarded as being the highest quality, if not necessarily the best on paper in terms of specs and efficiency. I have a Mitsubishi heat pump system that I'm pretty happy with, but Daikin and Fujutsu are apparently better. I don't know if Midea is available in my region-- at least none of the local contractors seems to carry them. The only Chinese brand I could find around me is Haier, and they don't have a good reputation for quality. I will definitely consider Midea in the future

Haier was crap a decade ago. Today they are global leaders in sales, value, and high quality in many products. Sad for you if you can't get them. Many japan things are garbage today. Their insolvent crappy auto industry is in tatters now and is outsold globally by China by 6:1 now, and 20:1 here in Singapore and Southeast Asia, the world's 3rd largest market today behind #1 largest market China. An american expat now living in uber-rich Singapore, where price is no obxt and China sells tons now.

I dont have any problem with heating here in Sweden. Heat pumps are VERY common. I have an Mitsubishi myself since several years. And petrol for the car? No problem since more than 7 years I drive a Renault Zoe. My solar panels are from China, some of them are since 2013, still working fine. So I dont see the crisis! Germans and Englishmen on the other hand tends to be conservative and very nationalistic. They have a crisis!

No way. How many square meters? In a -20°C outdoor environment, heating the indoors to 25°C for only 10 yuan a day? I use natural gas for floor heating; when the outdoor low is -5°C and I heat it to the teens, it costs at least 1,000 a month. I barely dare to turn it on.

In Chongqing, the outdoor temperature in winter is around 5~6°C. I also have a natural gas floor heating system installed, with a heating area of about 70 square meters. The indoor temperature is 20°C, and it costs about 800 RMB per month. I don't know about this Midea air conditioner, whether it provides heating like a traditional air conditioner or some new kind of heating. Its heating power, heating area, and room temperature control are all unknown, making it hard to compare. But the electric floor heating installed next door is at least 50% more expensive per month than using natural gas floor heating.

Is this a joke? The cost of electricity in the EU is extremely high in many places! For example, here we pay between €130 and €160 for a consumption of 650 kWh, depending on the season. Electricity in the EU is a catastrophe unless we get nuclear power plants soon. Solar energy won't save us, as demand is growing faster than solar energy can keep up with.

Yikes, my sympathies. My electricty is $20 - $30 per month. In the tropics in a 2800 sq ft condo with AC running year-round, and electric stove oven fridge & water heaters. An american expat now living in Singapore & Malaysia. Taxes and electricity charges are very low here.

Interesting. My understanding is that the Japanese brands are still regarded as being the highest quality, if not necessarily the best on paper in terms of specs and efficiency. I have a Mitsubishi heat pump system that I'm pretty happy with, but Daikin and Fujutsu are apparently better. I don't know if Midea is available in my region-- at least none of the local contractors seems to carry them. The only Chinese brand I could find around me is Haier, and they don't have a good reputation for quality. I will definitely consider Midea in the future

Haier was crap a decade ago. Today they are global leaders in sales, value, and high quality in many products. Sad for you if you can't get them. Many japan things are garbage today. Their insolvent crappy auto industry is in tatters now and is outsold globally by China by 6:1 now, and 20:1 here in Singapore and Southeast Asia, the world's 3rd largest market today behind #1 largest market China. An american expat now living in uber-rich Singapore, where price is no obxt and China sells tons now.

I dont have any problem with heating here in Sweden. Heat pumps are VERY common. I have an Mitsubishi myself since several years. And petrol for the car? No problem since more than 7 years I drive a Renault Zoe. My solar panels are from China, some of them are since 2013, still working fine. So I dont see the crisis! Germans and Englishmen on the other hand tends to be conservative and very nationalistic. They have a crisis!

No way. How many square meters? In a -20°C outdoor environment, heating the indoors to 25°C for only 10 yuan a day? I use natural gas for floor heating; when the outdoor low is -5°C and I heat it to the teens, it costs at least 1,000 a month. I barely dare to turn it on.

In Chongqing, the outdoor temperature in winter is around 5~6°C. I also have a natural gas floor heating system installed, with a heating area of about 70 square meters. The indoor temperature is 20°C, and it costs about 800 RMB per month. I don't know about this Midea air conditioner, whether it provides heating like a traditional air conditioner or some new kind of heating. Its heating power, heating area, and room temperature control are all unknown, making it hard to compare. But the electric floor heating installed next door is at least 50% more expensive per month than using natural gas floor heating.
