Based on the banner behind the Chinese students it appears that school is in the North Eastern Region of China, a city called 'Harbin', close to North Korea and Vladivostok of Russia. That region has historically been pretty poor and (unsurprisingly) ass freezingly cold. Not to mention it was one of the worst occupied regions during ww2 by the Japanese imperial army that did horrific things to the locals.To see them come this far is impressive. I'd wager a school in regions with more... central government focus... like Beijing, HK, Shenzhen, or Shanghai might perform even better.

If your score reach the level of that university, even you have no money pay the tuition, you also can get in this university, and graduate from this university. I have been live in west for decades, westerners are good at many things, but not superior-at all. On the other hand, people from other parts of world are good at some other things. Each system has its pro and con. Given the same environment, each race //ethnic group can be equally competent. It is an environment difference, not human race.

Western student is like a piece of blank paper, everything they draw would be so-called "innovative", because they know of nothing else, everything they draw is knee jerk action. As a high IQ Dane, I suffered greatly under the Danish school system, it does not allow for good students to excell, but rather allow the poor students to pull all the students down to their level - I had to move to Switzerland, and go to bording school. We are so stuck up our own ass in the West. And we are paying the price now.

For some time I've been thinking this trend in education to move away from memorization and knowledge retention in favor of creativity and reasoning is misguided. Obviously the latter are necessary skills that must be pursued, but the former are what make it possible to achieve them. It's like asking someone to win a boxing match without punching bags, jogging and skipping rope everyday.
