China has no choice but to build up navy in response to the US led NATO. The shame and hurt from the 19th century and later from Japan is deeply engraved in Chinese mind. Don’t understand why Zumwalt is the number one destroyer in the world? This ship is way too big to be a destroyer, using NATO standard, the ship lacks dual band radar, same number of VLS count as Burke class, the two guns are to shell land targets and slower than 055; and the stealth feature is primary for sneaky land attack not for sea battle. It’s not a destroyer, it’s a new version of land attack battle ship.

This is why China will always remain a green water navy. China will never be able to project it's navy across the globe as the US. Look at the US, it's geography.
