I just replaced my gasoline car with an EV last month. And once you've driven an EV, you'll never want to drive an oil-powered vehicle again. The intelligence of EV is beyond that of gasoline-powered vehicles. The monthly electricity bill is only one-tenth of the petrol expense.
@helddi
Not only in Australia, as you mentioned in a previous video. I see here in Europe (the Netherlands) more and more people (even the petrol heads) come to their senses. Not only because of the petrol prices. But I can't deny that these helps.
It's same when the first cars came in the roads and people with horses said 'this will go over'. We all know what came next.
@chengChen-v1t
@st-ex8506
You must be VERY YOUNG if you saw "such electric intelligent cars" while you were still a child. Because the first "electric intelligent cars" are no more than around 15 years old, and no more than 10 in China.
@chengChen-v1t

Not true and I'm pro EV. I would never recommend an EV to someone who's in the trades.

Why??? Many tradesmen here in Europe operate EV vans. My local electrician has, you guessed it, an electric van! More surprising, my carpenter, too... actually 5 electric vans... plus 3 company cars, 2 Teslas and one VW ID4... and we are in the middle of the boonies in central France, not in CA.
@st-ex8506
No, it does not. Second-hand Tesla sell very quickly at very good prices, right with the better petrol cars. I would agree that some shitty EVs do indeed sell badly... but those models are disappearing.
@st-ex8506
I do agree that someone driving very little, like <5000 miles a year, does not have much advantage buying an EV. But a good 70-80% of car owners would profit switching to an EV.

@OTPulse
That's not viable for most Australian trades. An EV Van would work for some, not many. 90% Australian trades use Ute's or Yank style 4x4 Pick-up trucks. Many trades will often travel huge distances (400km+) towing heavy loads up, down hill and off road. For general building trades, PHEVs are as good as it gets.
@st-ex8506
@OTPulse
I cannot judge of Australia, but here in Europe, the number of vans, small trucks (not pickups… hardly anyone use pickups), larger trucks and even heavy trucks going electric is phenomenal. In 2025, their sales grew some 100% over 2024.
BTW, if your tradesmen are taking jobs for which they have to travel 400 km, they have (outside special cases in which the client pays for the traveling ) a strange understanding of their trades’ economics.

The top energy, economic and safety issue from families to cities to regions to nations is energy independence. The oil companies financed the rise of fascism and Trump because they didn’t want play by the tax and pollution and corruption and anti-monopoly laws that we mere citizens have to follow.
Become as energy independent as you can! Don’t feed the fascists!
If you have the means, insulate and install solar and batteries and heat pumps and EVs and battery lawnmowers. By doing so you will be lowering costs for everyone else through spurring innovation and improved supply and distribution chains and economies of scale. And you will take pressure off of the grid. And you will hit back at the fossil fuel fascists by taking money out of their pockets!!! And you will insulate your family from Trump’s new global energy and fertilizer and food and economic and international trade crises, and from the increasing energy grid failures Trump’s destruction of the rule of law and global order are causing.
@robertoz3710
Nah, everyone wants to be stupid like America. West Australian paper headline today reports first reaction of their Labor ( centre left/Democrat-esk) planning and transport minister to growth of EVs is a tax. Yup, cos while 98% still drive fossil we can tax these radical leftist loonatic tax avoiders and the electorate won't care. Never mind if its a barrier to a clean energy transition and supports conservative destroy the planet policies. Meanwhile super profits for Australian gas goes overseas to multinational companies because we aren't smart like Norway and corps are donors to party coffers. All the corporate morons in Australia are desperate to replicate the Orange turd.

@felipemelo8605
@robertoz3710correct. Also is not just about save the plane it is save the economy everyone we need to close a new deal with Singapore and Japan for more fuel we got screwed on the other hand we have sunny day he e and heaps of space for batteries but no let's run o diesel because 5% of the population go camping in the middle of f nowhere.

The Australian government needs to get serious about charging infrastructure. Complaints over Easter only emphasise this, while most people can charge at home for local trips, it's during holidays that the issue becomes a big problem. Maybe they could concentrate more on holiday locations and common holiday routes, specially regional areas, but something needs to be done. The one big thing that will hold back EV adoption is simply that, lack or charging once outside large towns and cities.
@f1aziz
I think it's a bit of a bitter sweet event. On the one hand it shows that EVs have already crossed that psychological barrier for lots of people, and then the fact that infrastructure is still lagging bit. I think the EV charging companies will be dissecting the data they gathered on Easter holidays to plan further build out.
@DavidG-59

I would say it is China who started it first with E-bike as mandatory's law in China around 90s then started working on EV counterpart and when Elon heard the news he rushed to China backed by Warren Buffet and Charlie Monger to beg the Chinese government help him create his Tesla company in US....this is why both Warren Buffet and Charlie Monger invested on BYD because Elon couldn't afford it.

If fuel prices stay up a lot more electric vehicles will probably be sold. Had thought it would be good if the thousands of VW diesel cars sitting in an American desert could be brought here and sold dirt cheap. However they might not get bought by people. Pretty sure most people see diesel vehicles as thougher.

Spare parts for petrol vehicles will become expensive as petroleum is abandoned.
Grid electricity will become expensive as central generation is abandoned. PV roof electricity is dirt-cheap 2cents kWh and massive batteries on wheels parked 23hrs every day and all night long have FREE dirt-cheap massive electricity storage.
Petroleum for road building and maintenance and construction and petrochemical industry and emergency heating and military defence and logistics and war fighting and many other things will needed for decades and decades and decades.
Just saying.

@GeoffMiell
Is the surge in interest and sales in electric vehicles in Australia a one-off? Or is it a structural shift? Evidence/data I see suggests it’s likely a structural shift.
So far, the world has drawn down on afloat and onshore storages that aren’t being freshly pumped out of the Middle East and shipped from the Persian Gulf. These include the 400 million barrels of strategic reserves, as well as the release of Russian and even Iranian oil from sanctions. The world is using up those buffers, and if the Strait of Hormuz remains effectively closed for a few weeks more, then the world will be forced to begin to make do with far less crude oil/petroleum fuels.
There’s no guarantee the 2 week provisional cease fire in the US/Israel-Iran conflict announced yesterday (Apr 8) will stick.
For perspective, global crude oil + lease condensate production in Dec 2025 was 86,058 thousand barrels per day average, per US DoE EIA. Of the ~86 Mb/d of crude oil + condensate produced globally, roughly 40 Mb/d was available for trade in international markets, while the remainder is used internally by oil producer countries.
But ~11-13.8 Mb/d has now evaporated from the ~40 Mb/d crude oil that was traded in international markets pre-conflict – that’s about 27.5% to 34.5% of international traded crude + condensate supply gone. So those countries that were relying on that crude oil, or the petroleum products refined from those feedstocks, like Australia, will now have substantially much less access to supplies of these petroleum products. Rising fuel prices are now inevitable to destroy sufficient global demand.
The other aspect that appears not to be gaining attention is that ‘shutting in’ oil wells risks oil reservoir damage that might be difficult or even impossible to fix. JP Morgan’s recent analysis shows many Middle Eastern oil producers have already reached a full storage situation.
Days from start of conflict to well ‘shut in’:
Iraq: 6
Kuwait: 14
UAE (excluding rerouting): 16
UAE (including rerouting): 19
Qatar: 20
Saudi (excluding rerouting): 36
Saudi (including rerouting): 65
It has been 40 days since the conflict began on 28 Feb 2026.
The longer crude oil and gas wells in Iraq, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are ‘shut-in’, because the oil and gas haven’t been able to go anywhere since the conflict began, that increases the risks that they may NEVER RECOVER to pre-conflict production rates.
Even if maritime traffic returns to normal flows through the Strait of Hormuz soon, it’s likely that global oil and gas production rates will now take several months to increase significantly, with consequent ongoing high oil and gas prices in the interim.
Has the world now entered into a permanent post-peak oil (and gas) supply paradigm? We’ll see…

What shocks me is how many people buy full electric cars instead of hybrids, more suitable in Australia at the moment, in the far future yes full electric cars, but not now, there are YouTube videos on this. And Car Sauce guy on YuoTube just trashed his purchase of the Atto 1.

Love plugging in my EV every time. Knowing it’s running on pure Australian sovereign energy — Hunter Valley coal, Cooper Basin gas, and my rooftop solar — feels bloody good. No tankers from war-torn countries, no drama. Just homegrown power keeping me moving.
@MGriff-q1i
nup. Purely solar ev charging for us when at home now. Getting a home battery has been a long term ambition finally realised. There is enoughso that we can top up the EV most of the time. If we do a longish trip and the car needs a lot we need a couple of days to do it. Figers crossed for winter though.
@jeanvonbarberode2377
Imagine when everyone start to charge their EV at home when they are back from work, so Australia will have blackouts, the Enet will collapse. Australia has still not the infrastructure for EVs, especially outside of capital cities. And those EV become after 2-3 years already old, they are like notebooks or mobiles, you will need to pay new taxes and upgrade the software apart of that they are thermo bombs with a lot of radiation, I do not want to drive microwave. Service and parts will be also a problem in the future. Good luck!
@st-ex8506
How wrong you are. I am not Australian but living in France. But I am pretty sure that Australians don't behave differently than what we do. NO ONE charges his or her EV just when coming home from work, at peak power rate. No, we program it to start charging at the lowest of rates... for me starting at 10 pm. So, EVs put absolutely no strain on the power grid, much less than home A/C for instance.... actually they contribute utilizing the grid's infrastructure better.
@st-ex8506
Then, EVs last at double longer than comparable ICE vehicles, and NOT "2-3 years". Oh! And RADIATION! Boy! You should really inform yourself! It's a very good thing for you that ridicule does not kill!
@jeanvonbarberode2377
@st-ex8506well, you can't compare EU and Australia, Australia is hot, dusty and big. Also EU is mad with its Green policy and has a nuclear power which Australia doesn't have! Even in very hot summer days when everyone runs the air con there are some issues with grid here. The infrastructure is fragile here and the distances are huge, where even ice cars have problems to find petrol station, everyone up there in outback runs diesel, so no to EV in Australia.
@st-ex8506
@j@jeanvonbarberode2377Australia has more renewable power potential than any other country on Earth. Virtually permanent sunshine, lots of wind, even hydro in the east and in Tasmania, and quite probably significant geothermal resources.
As a matter of fact, you are among the countries developing solar power the fastest.
Your country also has one of the highest percentage of home ownership in the world… so, most people would not have a problem charging at home.
And, if the grid is strained handling a/c in the afternoon, FOR SURE it can handle everyone having EVs at night.
Despite the size of their country, Australians don’t drive more miles per year than the European average, and much less than the Americans.
You can now also cross Australia with an EV, there are DC fast-charging stations on all major highways.
Finally, you must import most if not all of your oil.
Conclusion: Australia is among the most perfect countries for owning an EV! And the fast growth in EV sales show it!
Now, I can’t speak of the Outback… but what proportion of the Australian people lives there? 3%! But please note that it is easier and cheaper to install a charging station in Walkabout Creek than a petrol station!
I hope you enjoy your 150-200$ diesel fill-ups, while some of your neighbors recharge their EVs from their own solar panel for ZERO additional dollar!

I just replaced my gasoline car with an EV last month. And once you've driven an EV, you'll never want to drive an oil-powered vehicle again. The intelligence of EV is beyond that of gasoline-powered vehicles. The monthly electricity bill is only one-tenth of the petrol expense.
@helddi

No, it does not. Second-hand Tesla sell very quickly at very good prices, right with the better petrol cars. I would agree that some shitty EVs do indeed sell badly... but those models are disappearing.

@st-ex8506
@OTPulse

@orpsman76
....I hope not for the sake of your country. It took a little over a year to absolutely destroy American integrity. Come on Australia....we are depending on you!

We don't haha it is necessity. You have heaps of oil to burn and heaps coming from Venezuela now. Unfortunately here people are very ignorant and will try to block the rise of ev.
@felipemelo8605

@f1aziz
@DavidG-59
The Australian government does not want to encourage EV adoption. It does not want to lose the 15 billion per year it collects from Australian vehicle owners.

If fuel prices stay up a lot more electric vehicles will probably be sold.

@GeoffMiell
We’ll see…

This one is a good start at a full EV ute.
But the towing and payload are there for me just the range of course .

It's just like turkey's voting for Christmas, so all of these wonderful cars will be useless when the power cuts come and they will and once they have you off the road the globalist governments of the world will plough on relentlessly with agenda 2030
@skipsmoto
Love plugging in my EV every time. Knowing it’s running on pure Australian sovereign energy — Hunter Valley coal, Cooper Basin gas, and my rooftop solar — feels bloody good. No tankers from war-torn countries, no drama. Just homegrown power keeping me moving.

nup. Purely solar ev charging for us when at home now. Getting a home battery has been a long term ambition finally realised. There is enoughso that we can top up the EV most of the time. If we do a longish trip and the car needs a lot we need a couple of days to do it. Figers crossed for winter though.

Good luck!

@st-ex8506
Then, EVs last at double longer than comparable ICE vehicles, and NOT "2-3 years". Oh! And RADIATION! Boy! You should really inform yourself! It's a very good thing for you that ridicule does not kill!
@jeanvonbarberode2377
@st-ex8506
I hope you enjoy your 150-200$ diesel fill-ups, while some of your neighbors recharge their EVs from their own solar panel for ZERO additional dollar!

not against EV, I just not sure if the infrastucture is in place for them yet, Government needs to lift its game.
It would be best to visit China and see how they solve infrastructure problems.
