Fun fact: One of the taikonauts Deng Qingming was one of the first batch of 14 taikonauts. However, over the years he had been a backup, as he had been always a few points short for the final uation. For 25 years he had not been able to realise his dream of going to the outer space on our very own aircraft. After 25 years of perseverance and consecutive training, he finally made it at the age of 56 ! This is really very inspirational.

Guys I get you have problems with China the country but can we not put on a parade of insults every time there’s a mention of them and their space program? Let’s keep them separate, especially on a post that is celebrating human success!
Going into space is a lifetime’s dream for everyone and this is an incredible accomplishment. I am glad their 25 year wait came to an end.

It would have been better to fly with a younger crew member in terms of a force generation context. But rewarding loyalty and giving him experience to be better able to support younger taikonauts mitigates this a little too.

Is this a bit aggressive, 2 people on this trip have never flown yet this is a 180 day mission. Although it is helped by the fact the first 10 days of the mission are handover days so they can adjust.
I was hoping one person from shenzhou 15 would swap seats with shenzhou 14 so that china could do a long-term habitation study on a taikonaut on a 350 day (180+170) mission cycle.

As of now (Nov 29, 2022), there are 13 people in space, 6 of them from China, 3 from US, 3 from Russia and 1 from Japan.
However this won't last long, as the old crew (3) of the Chinese Space Station will make their way back to Earth once the new crew (3) arrive and finish the transition.
