Despite greater ethnic and national identity diversity in both countries, we are still largely “one people separated by a common language”. And Americans NEED the Brits. The only good music still available to us is British or at least from the British Isles.
What has transpired of late is this. On average people in the UK are better educated and better informed than people in the US. As a result, they tend to be critical of abject stupidity whereas many Americans are duped by it and embrace it. Anti-intellectualism is rare in the UK, but predominant in US fly-over states. While people in the UK generally love the US and most sensible people in the US esteem the UK, people in the UK dislike and are quite demonstrative about stupid Americans.
