Honestly speaking, after looking Russia-Ukrain conflict, if war happens b/w India & china, no other country will come for any support. So to that context, Russia will not come to help India statement, even USA will stay away but can see the war as a market for its ammunitions. On contrary, Russia might help in making India energy independent and may remain neutral if war erupt. Putting all the possibility together, self-reliance will be a key factor.

China might attack through sea towards south as that is the best way for them because Himalayas is advantageous for india and they won’t do it. So we should strengthen our base much on south side especially kerela and Tamil Nadu to defend their unannounced attacks in the future. We should also double our base on Andaman Nicobar as that’s the main route china transport their trade towards west. So they might plan an attack differently next time not by just just marching towards borders as they know the history how good defenders we are at borders.
