It was the day when my 11th standard admissions started. I had got a whopping 94.35%, and was hoping to get the best junior college in my city. But sadly, I could not get admitted there, only because I did not have a paper with a stamp of caste on it. Students who had even scored an 80% got admission there, but for the students who did not have the caste certificate, should had to have a cut-off of 96% or 97%. I felt like I was cheated. I felt like I was the biggest victim of an injustice case that could have been done to anyone in this whole wide world. I was unlucky to have born in India, but my children should not also suffer the same fate as me. On that day I decided one thing. I will leave India, no matter what, and then will never ever show my face to her, so that my children will also not have to be the victim for this injustice.

I started searching for ways by which I could leave India, and never return. Being a bright student in school times, I landed the path of research and MS. I studied hard in my 11th and 12th to get into an IIT to build up a profile, which will help me in leaving India. Again, the same story got repeated which took place two years ago. I had secured a rank of about 8000 in the JEE-Advanced paper. IITs have a total intake of 10000, but unfortunately, only 5000 of them are for students who did not have a caste certificate. Rest 5000 seats were reserved for students who had a rank below 10000, but had a caste certificate. Nevertheless, I got admitted into the best college in my state. In that college, I only had the aim of doing anything that could lead me to an MS outside India.

Finally, the hard work of all the 4 years paid. I got an MS admit in US. That was the happiest day of my life, I felt like I achieved almost everything that had to be achieved. I was very happy the day I left from India, thanking God for everything. I never returned, and will never return.

I am not doing MS because I have an interest in research. I am only doing it because that was an easy way to leave India, with financial security. People will do anything, literally anything to get away from this reservation policy. I know there are many people like me who want to leave India only for this reason, and this fact should be understood by the politicians too. They feel that they will get less votes in the next election, little do they understand that the population of the non-caste-certificate people are more in India. If they do not understand it, within 5 years or so, all the bright minds of India will leave her and work in the progress of developed US rather than developing India.

People may mock me behind the mask of patriotism but they know they don't have guts to fill up a form by checking the box UR cause they know they are nothing without their caste certificate.

Even I am going to leave the country and do undergraduate from Germany because of this caste system. These politicians only think of themselves and want votes from lower caste and that's why they would never abolish caste system reservation should only be for poor and pwd ones

You do know that Trump government isn't target the students studying there and doing masters from their colleges? People going abroad for masters won't have any problem because of the Trump government because he is targeting the h1b abuse that is being done by companies.

We can ban this system forcefully but only if none of us( The General Merit) pay taxes and there is no jail in India to hold all of “us”. After all it is our money that they use to build all those big and galmarous iits and still we are'nt eligible.

i think rather then crying about the caste thing ..you should admit the fact that there must be some candidate scoring 96% who took your seat..why did you lag behind … and too add only those mind who obtained there education first from india (IIT’s)and then flew to USA out of there greed for money and lifestyle.
